Lil cucci's has probably some of the best service in the area, but the food really isn't any different than any of the other Italian places around. Go less than a mile down the road to Lori's and you can't tell the difference.

Sometimes I miss having Fazoli's in Lynchburg.

OG is way better though.

As an Italian afficionado (even though I don't have the surname to match like SJ) I don't get the hate for Fazolis. Nobody is declaring it fine Italian cuisine. It is what it is ... fast food.

And for all of Olive Garden's shortcomings, its fettucine alfredo still stands up nicely against higher cost opponents. Otherwise it has no business being compared to Maggianos, Carrabas et al.

Ive been to both Olive Garden and Vinny's (that was a great night talking with some of the fellow FlameFans), and honestly Id go back to either because I just like good Italian food. if I had to pick though Id go with Olive Garden (I am a huge fan of hte seafood alfredo). I also would like to say Ive been to a Fazolis and I enjoy the spaghetti with meatballs from there.

To be totally inappropriate I am glad we are clarifiying flat screnn TV"s not servers

As for me, in Lynchburg, the best italian is at Rancho Haizo and/or Chef Boyardee. L'burg has no good itatlian (Pizza excluded) so I can only go wth what I know

Again, I'm giving my endorsement to Ledo Pizza now. It may not meet Haize's standards, but I like it. Overall, on par with Vinny's but I think it wins.

No matter what you order, get a small pizza with it.

Wait? I thought that we were deliniating between Italian and Pizza? I think it is inappropriate and un Biblical to say a place is a good Italian place b/c they have good pizza. YOu know what the Bible says about that don't you? It's against it

I ended up getting a calzone, which was good. One of the girls didn't finish her pizza so me and Bryson got a piece of it. I thought the pizza was better than the calzone.

SLY Surely you jest. Pizza is a wholly American concoction!! If you watched American Eats - History on a Bun Part 1 and 2 on the History Channel you would know that.

Italian food is a different animal than Pizza. A joint may have great pizza but serve Spahettio's. Does that make them a great Italian restaurant? Another may serve home made pasta, sauces and sausages that melt in your mouth, but serve no pizza or something from Tostino's. Does this make them a bad Italian restaurant? If we are talking PIZZA than keep it in the PIZZA board. You can never find a moderator to get a thread back on topic when you need one. Probably at the Donut shop with PA and SCAR. <sniff> Is that bacon?

Actually pizza is derived from a dish referred to as Pissa back to the 800s AD. While 19th & 20th Century Italian-Americans popularized the NY & Chicago styles most of us enjoy today, their basis dates back many centuries in Italy.

I know it is very fashionable to claim pizza is not an Italian creation, the facts say otherwise.

Let's not forget, though, that pasta was brought over from China by Marco Polo, so any discussion about spaghetti, ziti and tortellini belongs in the Chinese thread.
