They'll probably just stay over at the shopping center or hotel.

So how is everyone so sure that W is coming? I'd imagine if he did attend anything it would be one of the viewings, since the actual funeral is shaping up to be very crowded.

I think TRBC is going to be all family, close friends, and VIP. W would be in TRBC. I've been told he was coming by different people, but I'm still not 100% sure. I'm convinced his dad will be here though.

If he is coming those in high places on campus know since Secret Service is doing their preps right now. Again I would be shocked if he didn't come pay his respects in some regard. I would expect him to speak at the funeral.

The funeral service is being conducted by Franklin Graham, Jim Moon, and Jerry Vines.

So, in the course of the last 10 years, Jerry gets picketed by Operation: Rescue, Soul Force and Westboro Baptist. That's quite the wacko trifecta.

BTW, Westboro's website is blocked on campus -- and considering the url, that's not surprising -- but I would imagine that there would be some sort of announcement/lunatic raving there to confirm that they're coming.

as jdub said earlier, the bookstore management staff told the employees to be ready to close up and get out sometime during this whold deal because if W was going to be coming into demoss, everyone else would be coming out. they said to be ready today, but how would they know?

and i wasnt serious about doing anything to the picketers. however, i do know it is illegal for certain time frames before and after funerals in some states. oklahoma is one i think. i guess not VA.

If W's coming, plans are being made in advance.

When 30 guys in black suits with earpieces and surface-to-air missiles show up in armor-plated SUV's, believe me, you'll know.

So do you mean, only certain people will be allowed in TRBC? OR could I get in there?

I highly doubt you'll be able to get into TRBC for the funeral service.

Is that because of the high number of people coming, or because most seats will be reserved?

If you want to get into TRBC for the service, you'll probably have to camp out the night before. If they're using both Vines and Williams for overflow, you know they're expecting numbers of people somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 digits.

I've heard as many as 25,000, which makes sense if all three are packed to capacity.

Question: would W fly into Lynchburg or drive? I don't know if our landing strip is big enough for Air Force One. The only reason I ask is I just heard a huge plane fly over and couldn't get a visual because of the clouds, and it sounded bigger than most things that fly into Lynchburg.

that landingstrip isn't long enough to handle AF1. But AF2 (I think that's what the helicopter is called) is probably still a short trip from DC.

when H.W. came in to speak at graduation he flew in on a helicopter. air force one can land in roanoke, and has done so before and just recently as the VT memorial service.

I just got off the phone with my dad for work and asked him the same question. He said chances are, if W's flying in, they may take Air Force One to Roanoke and pick him up in Air Force Two and bring him over to Lynchburg in that.

Whatever plane I just heard was easily audible for about two minutes.

W is in the Rose Garden with Blair on TV right now. So that wasn't him.

Dude, I read that and was like, "Where is our rose garden and why is he talking with Larry?" Then I realized what you were talking about.

Interesting fact: Lynchburg's airstrip can handle a 737. In fact, the runways at Lynchburg are longer than those in Roanoke. I was informed of this by the head of operations at the Roanoke airport a few years ago when I was helping to organize a charter plane trip. The reason that Lynchburg never actually sees a plane that big is that the Lynchburg airport infrastructure (ie., baggage handlers, ticket counters, security, etc.,) is nowhere close to being able to handle the amount of passengers a larger plane would carry.

ha. i guess that will be a sign. i just meant that it'd be weird for our bookstore management (of all people) to know something that no one else (especially no one on here) knows. not impossible, but not likely.

They've probably told all management in DeMoss the same thing. No one on here is really located in DeMoss.

He also landed there for the D-day memorial service back a few years ago. When they first opened...I got a ton of up close pictures from that day

One of my sources told me yesterday that secret service was up there yesterday scouting the campus. He said that he also heard that possibly Al Sharpton will be there as well for the funeral. Once again though, this source isn't always that credible
