Tell Abel he was safe:

"Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him."

Now imagine if Abel was packing. Cain comes running at him with a rock (I'm assuming), and Abel pulls out his Desert Eagle (God's chosen people's gun). Thus preventing the world's first murder.

With certain freedoms, comes certain responsibilities...and risks.

If guns were outlawed...
...only outlaws would have guns.

I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm. I really hope it was.

If not, then this is my response to those who want to feel safe:
Thomas Jefferson wrote:God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part, which is wrong, will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.

LUPD actually has a great system. A lot of officers compared to other schools our size. But I just wanted to say LUPD is looking pretty good so far.

Do the insurgents in Baghdad have tanks, missiles or jets? If the American people wanted to overthrow their government, they could certainly pull it off. Or at least destabilize it enough to make it ineffective.

yeah, and they have AK's which aren't accurate at all. even though they can shoot alot of rounds. figure that every redneck in america has the equivalent of a sniper rifle... one shot kill. we could overthrow anyone if we needed to

I actually worry less about Americans having the proper arms to fight than I do about Americans knowing when the right time to fight will be.

I reiterate again...(and many others have echoed this point either in this thread or in others like it on the board) If someone wanted to commit a heinous crime on THIS campus, whether kidnapping or mass murder or whatever, and they are committed to doing it, it does not matter HOW many officers we have, or even if every person had an LUPD officer with an assault rilfe walking with them everywhere they went. They are going to plan accordingly and pull it off.

Well, I wasn't impressed with LU-EMS tonight. I was walking back with my girlfriend and her roomie when her roomie suddenly started feeling bad.

The LU-EMS Jeep Cherokee arrives, and we take her back to her dorm. As we're walking, she starts gagging. The dude lets go and immediately turns his back, saying he "doesn't handle vommit real well." I'm not saying it doesn't sicken me, but at least I was able to hold on to the girl so she wouldn't fall (she didn't puke btw). He also turned away while she was gagging in the room. Needless to say, we had an ambulance come and take her to Lynchburg General.

oh please, please, please don't tell me things like this. :x  :banghead

and I hope you don't mean the EMT was the one being squeamish

BTW - those symptoms are very often indicative of nothing more serious than a viral infection (quite common)

the Rx is bedrest and fluids. (Don't elaborate on your friend- its a potential Patient confidentiality violation)

Just park where you are suppose to and you don't have to worry about it

I have got 2 tickets the other day within 30 minutes of eachother...but I was parking next to Schilling, so I mean I had it coming....such is life I guess....if you park where you're suppose to they don't bother you......but then again you have your street cred to worry about, because you wouldn't rat on a murderer...

back on topic...
i just got a ticket for parking at the rot at 6 pm. that is retarded. i have a freshman tag, and evidently they changed the rule since i bought it. instead of patrolling campus and busting drug dealers or somethiung on campus, evidently they were just randomly walking through the rot parking lot writing tickets to kids who paid like 300 dollars for a parking permit, because evidently that was enough money to park in the huge empty parking lot where they are supposed to eat at.
ok rant over

Freshmen are supposed to park in the pit where they belong...keep your car there and outta the spots that my roomie and I and others of us who aren't on the Hill want to use when we park there to eat dinner.

dude, first off, there were hardly any cars there. second, that lot is never full at dinner. third, i was parked in the back of the lot. fourth, i live in 31, with is at least a half mile from the rot, and i'm not walking there. it isn't worth the walk.
and why do freshman "belong in the pit"? we paid the same amount that you did to park on campus. i don't see why we can't park after 4:30 like everyone else.

maybe i should sue LUPD for discrimination against freshman? :brightidea

I agree that, as it stands now, since freshmen paid the same amount, they deserve to get to park there after 4:30.

However, next year, if the discounted lots actually do happen, I'll have no sympathy.
