Just so you guys know, we are planning to have event specific t-shirts for this. So, if we use a name that one of you come up with, we can at least float a t-shirt your way.

Thanks for the replies. Keep 'em coming.

By the way, this event might be open to students & non-students. We're just not quite sure yet.

Could there be anything more frightening anymore than to be sitting in a room by yourself and see Chris Hanson walk in?

I wonder if he does that at NBC headquarters as a prank. You know, schedule a conference room and only invite one low-level employee to the meeting but then he shows up ten minutes late and just stares at the person until they get uncomfortable and asks who he is. He replies with, "I'm Chris Hanson from Dateline NBC. Who are you?" and watches them turn pale as they suddenly realize they've just been branded a pervert.

If I was him, I'd do it. Good times. :D

I was trying to bring it back to my original post. Although, I do agree that LIB's idea is pretty sweet.

one option would be to to broaden the participants a little. Right now it seems like it's limited to PC gaming. You could use console gaming like xbox, xbox360, ps2, etc. A wii tourney would be pretty sweet but you'd have to get the systems some how. Also, you could open this up to alumni. I would smoke fools at counterstrike and I haven't even played in like 4 years. Gears of War would be a Grrrrreat tournament but it may not be Liberty Way. A lot of my dorm was into Tony Hawk and that would be a pretty cool tourney. I just dont know how many people are into it.

LUconn -

Thanks for some feedback. We looked into consoles, & it wouldn't be cost-effective to purchase all of those systems. So, we have to limit it to PC. Alot of the serious gamers have their on PCs designed especially for gaming. I play in a LAN party every month with friends & co-workers & we usually have 20+ people just for that. So, we feel that the interest is there.

I don't have all of the specifics, but have some guys involved in setting this up that have done extensive research on these LAN tournaments. They feel we could possibly turn this into a great event.

There is a possibility that this will be open to everyone (students, alumni, employees, prospective students).

Question: are you expecting that the gamers will be bringing their own PCs to play on?

Yeah. The gamers that are serious about it have their own. Most of the big LANs (thousands of gamers) are BYOC.
