I think Waterstone has a brewery as well.

Not a beer drinker myself, but I think Brauburgers is supposed to have a good craft selection.

Brauburgers does. As does Rivermont Pizza; 20 rotating taps. The Great Room in the Kirkley has a good craft selection as well. Waterstone's "Brewery" is garbage. You could have a fun day hopping in Nelson County between Devils Backbone, Wild Wolf and Blue Mountain.

Thank you for highlighting another reason why I love The Great Room. Rivermont is cool too because they have that beer shop in the back with a huge selection of microbrew bottles. Not sure I would say Waterstone's brewery is "garbage" though... It could be bigger... but the stuff they have is pretty good.

That being said, you're right about the Nelson County statement. On top of that you have about 20 wineries along that stretch and now a distillery (Silver Back I think?).

I've never been to any of the craft beer spots in Lynchburg, but reviews for Jefferson St. Brewing (Waterstone) are generally pretty poor when it comes to the quality of the beers. I typically avoid anything rated below 3.5 (in reality more like 4.0) on BeerAdvocate just because there's so much good stuff out there these days. Another good resource is the Untappd app which will have many more ratings than BeerAdvocate.

Garbage was a harsh term, I'll concede. Mediocre would be a more apt description. As Adam said, just too many other good options out there. There's nothing at Jefferson/Waterstone that has ever impressed me.

Ned's is the place in the back of Rivermont. Pints O'Plenty next to Apocalypse and Magnolia Foods on Rivermont Avenue also have decent craft selections.

Have you happened to try the new microbrewery in Amherst?

I'm trying to think of an idea for a new category, but personally i think that if a particular place wins 7 times or more (since 7 is the number of perfection apparently), that place should be retired from the list

I like the idea, but 7 times is a bit of a high bar for a once yearly message board contest. Maybe 3 times?

By local, do you mean based in Lynchburg or covering the Lynchburg-Roanoke media market?

I still think we should send these local businesses a certificate when they win. Something to hang up in the front of the place to show off.

Maybe a category for best deli-type food, or deli or whatever description fits for what I'm attempting to describe. Don't think that's been a category.

Places such as Westside, Magnolia, O'Kelly's, Farm Basket...
