She's an online student, so I doubt it.
She probably looked for the cheapest online school she could find and signed up just so she could do the show.

That's not a particular good testament for LU lol.

actually she said she took courses with Liberty since she was 16. Frankly I don't see the big deal its getting Liberty name out on a whole different field. Lastly (maybe im wrong) didn't Jerry used to say something like the affect of "there is no negative press?" meaning negative press means good press regarding the school's name going out.

As for the show, my girlfriend watches it and loves her so she must be doing something right lol

Sly's right. As I said before, I pitched this one to my editor and she decided to not run a story on it at this point. Now if by chance she wins, we may do something for that.

That sounds just awful. The current brand of American pop culture is partly responsible for our demise, this is for sure. In the old days kids read books. Now we have America's Next Top Model, Katy Perry, Desparate Housewives and the like. A sure recipe for social and societal disaster I say.

Every generation says basically the same thing. Just substitute Elvis or The Beatles orif you wanna to way back Mozart. Same with TV. How scandalous was it when TV actually showed a married couple had just one bed in their bedroom. Or when Rhett Butler swore!

I agree Haize, and look where our culture has gone as a result. Books, family, and travel used to educate, now the television and Katy Perry "edgejookate"

Imagine the technology of today in a Victorian/Gilded age culture of refinement, family, and focus on true education. The period of Twain, Stevenson, and Doyle, with ragtime, Roosevelt, barbershops, and "travel abroad" plentiful throughout the culture.

Give me New York or London circa 1888 over Katy Perry any day.

You can have it. Read People of the Abyss
Jack the Ripper was killing Prostitutes. They had them even back then
Sanitation was non existent and people had the pleasure of using chamber sets
Whales were being hunted towards extinction because there was no electricity
Alcoholism was rampant
Blacks and Women were denied rights
The environment is being destroyed by the Industrial Revolution. Rivers are poisoned air quality is toxic due to the burning of coal
Germany goes thru 3 Emperors

There were good things too like the formation of the National Geographic Society, Eastman Kodak started his company and in a Paul Bunyon type contest Typing entered the scene

Maybe the focus was on more "boring" things due to the lack of technology. I don't understand why people glamorize the past. I could say that I'd like to go back to the late 1960's for the music, but I wouldn't want to deal with the possibility of Vietnam and everything else that was going on at the time.

Exactly my point. This attitude is a snapshot of the greater decline of western society over the last 100 years. To call Twain, Stevenson, and Doyle boring, to not understand the role barbershops played in the community, and to put today's pop culture on a pedestal because it is more "entertaining" is a perfect description of the disease afflicting Americans today. Fireside chats with family over books used to be entertainment enough. Now kids aren't entertained unless they're watching America's Next Top Model while texting/facebooking/surfing at the same time haphazardly attempting homework, all the while listening to the latest American Idol star through headphones in the living room instead of interacting with family.

I will stop here with this thread - I loathe the culture of the day. Cosmo is a publication from hell, mainstream TV is garbage, absolute garbage, and the focus on the family and classical education is being lost to "now" impulses of the "me" generation. Garbage into the brain equals garbage out, and it is no wonder we see our society marching in step to American Idol tunes straight over the cliff of cultural insanity.

As Christians we should be seeing this and doing something about it, not giving our brains and ratings to Desperate Housewives and the like.

I missed it but in the end it doesn't change.
Culture. Like subjugating indigenous populations around the world. Denying people of color equal rights. Treating women as second class citizens
Education. They couldnt operate today's technology because the vast majority of the world was still illiterate. So they couldn't even read the instruction manuals.
Family. The parents usually were the only ones who had their own bedroom. Contraception a foreign concept and would be REALLY frowned upon by the Church.
Then you have to ask who could afford to enjoy the wonderful new technology since poverty was the norm.
Now if it is something you are really interested in then try on the Steam Punk movement.

Yikes.
Tyra asks her to respond to people on Facebook who called her face "boring," and she retorts that because she is part Jewish and part Native American, "Our people were led off on the Trail of Tears and the Holocaust, so if you have a problem with my face, you're racist." You can see Tyra wince.

It's "good ol' days" syndrome, and it's B.S., as was clearly explained in Season 6, Episode 10 of my one of my most favorite television shows.

If you're not being educated by television, you're watching the wrong channel.
