Loved that about Doc. He might have said things that people disagree with but there is no denying that Falwell was a brilliant man

Jerry Sr was the kind of guy that could smash you in the face with facts in a debate, and when it was over treat you to dinner and tell you about Jesus

BJ, in all seriousness, a sentence like that demonstrates why you will make your living as a writer.

But that's just the thing about most liberals. They do not understand facts. All they understand is emotion and feeling.

CJ, at least Beej doesn't have a problem with using passive voice like I do! :D but he did leave out the period after Jesus. :nono

After knowing lots and lots of newspaper writers in my lifetime....he's right BJ it would be a natural fit for you.

So did Faulkner, and he made a good living.

So true - no offense to Doc, because I know the man was smart. But I think the point here is that while the Liberal elite's at various Ivy League schools may be smart, they don't always have common sense, and they do not always research actual facts before speaking. I guess they think they know it all already since they attend Princeton, Brown, Harvard, etc. This is a cultural problem of our education system.

After I praised Harper Lee in class one day, a Liberty English Prof told me "If one wants to read GOOD Southern literature, one must read FAULKner." To prove him wrong, I read "Absalom, Absalom!" and "The Sound and the Fury" over the summer break. I fell in love with Faulkner, but I still think Lee has him beat.

Over spring break, you should also read Faulkner's As I Lay Dying. For the record, To Kill a Mocking Bird is Mrs. Cider's favorite novel, and she's an English prof. as well. I'm a big fan of her novel, too, but that's basically all Harper Lee ever wrote, compared to Faulkner who wrote dozens of novels. Another major southern writer is Tennessee Willams, who, ironically, is also from Mississippi.

Who reads during spring break? :P

Absalom! Absalom! Was a book that I really enjoyed. I hated The Sound and the Fury, but it did give me one of my favorite quotes. That's only because it's how I felt about the book. I believe As I Lay Dying was actually written by one of Ciders students during his lectures!

Tennessee went to college in Missouri and set some of his plays there, including The Glass Menagerie.

I get why people might be upset about the 9/11 comments from Doc, but didn't he apologize for that comment? Do none of these papers research things like that?

And maybe I'm just slow but who are all these other Christian groups who apparently don't find the Bible “authoritative in all matters”? Apparently Liberty is the only group who holds such controversial ideas.

Facts just get in the way

Most mainline denominations.

I would challenge most. But I was talking about schools the Green's are considering? From some schools listed in the article...

From Azuza website:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God.

From ORU website:
Oral Roberts University is a charismatic university, founded in the fires of evangelism and upon the unchanging precepts of the Bible.

From Olivet University website:
We believe in the Holy Scriptures as originally given by God, divinely inspired infallible, entirely trustworthy; and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Maybe Liberty isn't the only crazy school believing the Bible. But apparently the only school they have a problem with :dontgetit

The thing about these crazy nutty Christians who actually believe in God, is that liberals have no problem with peaceful, tolerate Muslims who believe that Muhammad wrote the Koran with inspiration from Allah. And how dare you question that fact.
