Ive wondered if they (Liberty) would ever consider making a restriction on cars for underclassmen unless they were a) town students or b) employed off campus. I mean we have a perfectly good bus system and some folks probably could use the exercise.

I dont think that ever was approved by the administration...Freshmen have their lots on campus but they almost never park there.

This won't be an issue after the campus redesign is done. If you notice, the only parking lots are on the edges of campus. You have to park and walk or park and ride the bus. No more parking lots right next to buildings.

The artist rendering looks nice. Also glad to see we're going with elevators instead of the goofy zig-zag ramps that other cities have used in the past for handicapped access.

The STEEL is up on both sides of route 29 where Sam's Club is! :clapping

My hope is that they do it at night - Midnight to 5 and it would be easy to detour traffic around wards ferry road?

I'm sure it's in one of those articles, but for someone who hasn't read them, are the going to add some sidewalks to connect all the shopping centers?

being lynchburg I would dare say they aren't...but it would be the smart thing for them to do.

ALUmnus -

Sorry I don't have "chapter and verse" but I do remember that LU was forking over a large chunk for the Bridge, with the provision that the city was supposed to work on sidewalks. I think that there was some grant money somewhere. It certainly would not make sense to build a bridge to nowhere...

Also, LU is in the process of making the campus more "pedestrian friendly."

Yea, after seeing the crosswalk drawings, the bridge concept sounds like a much better idea--for students AND traffic.

By the end of August, a 250-foot pedestrian bridge will stretch across Wards Road, providing a safe crossing for Liberty University students accustomed to scrambling across the busy thoroughfare.

Those comments really are incredible. At least Fred Grzzzzz has the courage to post with his real name. We need to find out what he does and where. We then need to encourage 200 kids to do CSER hours there. "Kill em with kindness"

The logical reasoning as to why the city is paying for most of it is because it is a pedestrian problem on city property. End of story. Kudos to them for stepping up admidst the peanut gallery chatter and doing the right thing, putting politics and religion aside and getting the bridge built.

Notice Fred had nothing to say about the article involving 3,600 freshmen moving in
and the 93 businesses and organizations from around the city and from all zip codes to welcome them?

What say ye, Fred?
