I was in Charlottesville Friday and decided to give it a shot due to this thread. I thought it was very good. Definitely better than Golden Corral.
It was $10.50 a person, but that price was only for Friday and Saturday because they had some shrimp and other seafood. Not a lot, but some.
Normally it is $10.00 per person and kids under 12 pay $.50/per year in age.

I enjoyed it, and felt it was worth the money.

Stopped in today- definitely a Chinese super buffet (though I've never known a super buffet to be super). The tip-off was the multiple kikkoman soy sauce containers and the guy working over the grill who looked very Asian and spoke no English... with a Chinese accent.

Rogers3, so it's open for business now? Too bad Wood Grill didn't go in there.

The signs are now up: Hibachi Grill Buffet.

I'm visiting my parents in WV, and the Parkersburg paper has an article about one opening there. According to their fishwrap, the lunch buffet is $5.95 and the dinner buffet is $8.95. As far as menu goes, the article mentions: "sushi, seafood, steak, barbeque, and grill."

A buddy of mine was asked if he'd like to serve his food here too. He decided against it.

Will they be cooking at the table? Seems like every time I hear the word Hibachi I think of that.

Essentially I'm trying to figure out if I should expect a Kyoto (cook at the table) or a Great Wall China (crap buffet but has everything on it)

oversized mongolian grill
I have no idea what that means (though I do understand the term "oversized").

A little of both if it is like the one down here. Big buffet that leans a little higher quality than standard buffet with a mongolian grill over on the side instead of the show at your table.

CJ - It basically is a big slightly domed hibachi like they have at most Mongolian BBQ places (which I am assuming don't exist in Lynchburg based on the response). You pick out raw meat, veggies, fruit & even pasta and then mix up your choices of sauces with things like garlic or cilantro mixed in for added flavor. It is all then grilled together and served up within about 5 minutes.

Frankly writing this post has me realizing that it has been too long since the last time Mrs. Sly & I hit a Mongolian BBQ joint. If it weren't so late I'd be game right now. But alas ...

Today's the grand opening. Anybody going there for lunch?

Just returned from my $8.24 lunch buffet, and it felt like an LU reunion party. Seemed like half the campus was there, including 2 senior administrators who spoke to me. I counted 6 buffet stations--2 American, 2 Asian (Chinese & Japanese), salad/fruit bar, and desert bar.

Though I didn't try it, the most amazing part of the buffet was the 4-foot tall chocolate fountain for dipping marshmellows, strawberries, or anything else you wanted. The dessert bar also had an assortment of pies, cakes, cobblers, cookies, & puddings. And the watermelon was amazing!

As Sly described after this thread was first created, it has a big Japanese grill where you can get stir fryed food made to order and also a sushi bar. Even if you don't like Japanese/Chinese food, there is plenty to fill you up on just the American stations--fried chicken, fish, pork chops, meat loaf, & hot wings.

Went today with Coach Pinder. Loved it....great food and the perfect way to start slowly backing down on the food intake that my stomach is used to after my 7 day cruise last week.

Went again today....sad that I didnt realize until today they have a raw bar where you make your own plate of everything you want from crab, steak, chicken and fish and hand it to them and they'll cook it up.....it's unreal

I need to stop going every day

Keep this up and you'll need to go on another cruise to lose weight.
