The Jerry thing was a joke. I know where you actually got the information from. I know they study these things, but I don't have to think it's a good decision. I'm sorry, but I see no point in people watching church on a screen. If that's the case, just stay at home and watch on the internet.

why is convo more relevant if you're in the vines as opposed to TRBC? I think it all comes down to you don't want to have to start going.

I won't have to go anyways. I'm not an undergrad student. Plus I work during convo.

Super, are seminary students really not required to go to Convo? Also, I thought all LU employees went on Wednesday.

I'm pretty sure we don't have to. We have our own convo on Friday's. I honestly don't know. I don't see how you can require graduate students to go to convo like that because most students are taking classes in between working and all of that. What I do know is that 10-11 is one of the busiest times of the day in our office.

I thought all offices (academic and staff) were supposed to be CLOSED on Weds from 10-11 for mandatory convo for faculty and staff???

How are you going to close down an athletic team? These guys work 14-16 hour days sometimes just to get everything done. You can't actually expect them to close.

If you've been at Liberty as long as you have and think everyone closes down from 10-11, you're insane.

I remember seeing Ritchie McKay at convo on most Wednesdays. I would hope most of the other coaches go, too. I close down my office during that hour.

Football is a completely different animal than any other sport. There's no way the entire staff could shut down for an hour and still finish everything that needed to get done. The athletic department is the same way. There's simply too much stuff to do.

so where are people hearing this about the RA's for off campus.

It sucks if its true, but on the other hand, if they really were doing that, people would probably have to start trying out for that and as far as I know I havent read or heard anything about that.

Everything is hearsay right now. I heard from someone who works on campus. You can imagine who the person pushing this is...

I think, and this is speculation, that the rumors are coming from some RA's saying stuff in hall meeting that isn't official. I could guess, but won't, on who told them the info as if it were official. As SJ said, almost everything is hearsay right now. The details are still being worked out. If all the details were figured out it would have been announced already.

I don't see how there is anyway there could be off-campus RA's. What are they gonna do come drive around and knock on your door and make sure you are in by curfew?

People would transfer elsewhere before that happened.

heard today that its going to be a new policy for new commuter students, as in, those who are already commuters wont be subject to it, but those moving off campus next year and from now on, will be subject to it

That is what I had heard, as well. But you know how at Liberty, every rumor goes a million different ways.

that seems logical to me but my real interest is in how local commuters (who have never lived on campus) will be handled. Is a student who commutes from concord to class going to be required to travel that trip even if they do not have classes on MWF? it seems that you will alienate the local commuter crowd with this type of change

i would like to see a function on asist similar to applying to live off-campus, this way people who have legitimate reasons for not being there (work, scheduling, etc) at least have the opportunity to have their situation reviewed and possibly released from the requirement to attend.

or RA's would get shot for driving up to some random persons door unexpectedly and harrassing them...

i REALLY think this would hurt LU's enrollment. TTU lost a TON of people when they changed their rules to make all students up to age 23 live on campus.

i know i wouldnt put up with it if i were still in school. people have a right to privacy when living off campus. come up with what arguments you will for why people should be allowed to control other people's lives, but the bottom line is, people are gonna do what they want to do, when they want to do it. better to have some voluntarily live properly than to have all grudgingly act like they are following the rules.

Which is why everyone should be able to carry, right? More guns = less violence...

Anyways, proceed.

whoa whoa. Wow. that got out of hand quickly. this went from a vague rumor that has been confirmed about commuters eventually having to check in for convo to some crazy rabbit trail rumor of RA's going to commuters houses. That isn't what is being discussed at all, I wouldn't worry about that occurring.

Meh, I'd still find a way to get out of convo (like I did when I lived on campus-work at the bookstore or sign out to my parents' house the night before-where there's a will, there's a way), but what about the married students with kids? Are they supposed to leave the child with a babysitter? Good luck finding one of those at 10:00AM in the morning.
