I read that this morning and my first thought was, "I wonder how many people are still gonna whine about stupid stuff knowing who reads this board now."
I will. And if he's reading, then he's definitely stealing all of my ideas. I've been whining about an eagle statue for years among other things.

Maybe it's his watchful eyes that made the following happen:

1. The Eagle Statue
2. The Rivermont pool

what else LUconn?

you guys are a bunch of wussies. 8) and I didn't say anything that I wouldn't have directly asked the powers-that-be, if I had the opportunity to do so.

(and, Good Morning, Mr. Chancellor)

1. Its my civic duty to complain about everything. We do that up here.
2. I don't think I got the memo about the mansion. In any event, in my mind, its still 1988.
3. In this instance- I stand by my reading comprehension. The wording was, at the very least, confusing.
4. I applaud the administration for being responsive and doing what they can to help financially.
5. There is nothing wrong with questioning authority. Unless its ME pulling YOU over. Then, do what you're told.

This is like government. If they only raise tuition 2% and not 4%, it is a cut? We live in a wacky world!!

I am glad they did cut the increase back. At least it shows they are concerned.

its a cut from an administrative business standpoint because it is making us eat 6 mil in operating increases this fall.

i still don't understand why the only people whining have been out of college a while. the current students who are actually paying the bills are appreciative. maybe all you alums who wanna complain should fork up some money to the school so they can cut tuition further...

It wouldn't help. Look at all the Ivy league schools and thier huge endowments. Is thier tuition any cheaper because of it? No. It's just the day and age we live in. Nothing is cheap. (except for a few firemen I know  )

that's misleading. ivy league kids get so much scholarship money from endowments and other third party scholarships they earn that many student don't even have to be concerned about the cost of tuition. i know a lot of harvard kids don't even have to pay a single cent for tuition, at least that's what an article said that I read a year or so ago. and the ones that don't, most come from fairly well to do families, so it's not like most are strapped for cash...

Hey JDUB- I know you're from the south, so I'll make this easier for you to understand. Step out of the bubble and read S....L....O....W....L....Y

the rest of my post was quite obviously tongue-in-cheek.

subtlety evidently lost on you.

PS: its best not to make assumptions about how others support the school financially. Unless you do my taxes.

that wasn't aimed at you medic. don't get your panties in a wad. we all know your underwriting half the sports at LU 8)

it was just towards the general negative attitude of alums who always complain and never do anything, which I wouldn't consider you to fall into that group

Jdub not everyone can give money though...I just wish they would offer what they think should be done differently...not that they would ever come up with better ideas but at least they are trying to solve a problem rather then complain about it.

Ivy League tuitions are based on actual costs, but because the schools are so well funded by wealthy alumni, most of the students who are accepted have a large portion of the cost underwritten.

I edited this to avoid repeating the term huge endowment.

Do alumni on this board complain? All I ever read about is a bunch of whiny know-it_all students.

oh students on here complain a lot more about things then alumni, no doubt about it...but i found it funny that Sly got on here talking as if the students aren't appreciative when no current students had even come close to complaining in this thread...at least that is where my focus is..haha

i am a current student here at LU and i am quite happy tuition is down 540 from what they planned to charge. :woohoo
that's still not enough to determine whether i have the funds to come back or not, that would take more like two or three thousand dollars, let alone the fact that i cant afford this semester... :( but i am still holding out for a miracle... :pray (1. i dont qaulify for any loans, but stafford loans, and the only ppl i know who are willing to co-sign [my parents] actually HURT my credit and chances of getting a loan.)

Liberty University cuts tuition rates for 2009-10 academic year.
Actual title of article still found on Liberty.edu.
Liberty raises tuition for 2009-10 academic year
Title stating what will actually occur but not used on current article found at Liberty.edu.

Some think the two titles are saying the same thing. Not a complaint, just an observation.

It says the same thing, but people read it differently.

Liberty University cuts tuition rates for 2009-10 academic year from what they had previously planned on charging.

Liberty raises tuition for 2009-10 academic year from what it is in 2008-2009.
