I worked there for almost 4 years and I had 5 different bosses over me and probably 2 or 3 different bosses over them at different times and none of them got promoted or left. They're in constant restructuring. I think it just gives upper management something to do to move around their little chess pieces.

That's why I left a corporate structure type firm (Pru) and went to one where I have a big company name (CBRE) but essentially work for myself.

yeah...I actually was contacted a couple months ago by an HR rep, had an interview scheduled...then they called and canceled and said they keep me on file....suuuure, haha

its an accountant assistant opening or something. he got a letter in the mail accompanying a phone call telling him his interview time.

From what i understand, unless you were out of the office yesterday, everyone who was here and affected was notified.

maybe it was a position they were going to keep but the person left on their own accord? i don't know the whole situation obviously, my brother had a phone interview with them so they could narrow down the candidates more for on-site interviews. he would know more about why it was open than I would. the whole family thought it was odd since you know they just layed off 140 people but they were looking to hire someone for this position...

actually it appears you are correct.....positions have just been opened up....just about all of them though in Richmond, including your brother it appears.

They actually laid off over 200 in Lynchburg, mid 300's in Richmond (something like 1 out of every 4 people). A lot of the job openings that they just opened up will go to people who were just let go. And supposedly they offered to transfer a bunch of people to Richmond.
