Dress code was retarded. I wish they would have relaxed it when I was a student.

Circle dorms removed & new quads built in their place. The tin-can look just doesn't go with the campus at all.

I wish they could go back and handle the horrid layoffs of the late 80's and early 90's with class and dignity. Not Storm Troopers with boxes kicking long term employees to the curb.

And they shouldn't have changed the dress code to look like every other sloppy school! Hate it!

We have to be careful with one thing on this thread and think through what would happen if we were not to do these things. Example, during the 80's & 90's the doors were so close to closing then maybe having a few more employees here and there would have caused them to close forever.

So maybe a disclaimer saying "If we lived in a perfect world and there would be no repercussion's for the one thing I choose it would be..."

Dress code I never got....like somehow we a better christians if our hair doesn't touch our collar. I understand modesty issues regarding some clothing, but the hair thing is funny. T-shirts & jeans are no big deal.

HMO - I said the way they did the layoffs not the layoffs themselves!
Bwall - I just this they went too far. There needs to be something about LU that sets us apart from every other school. Like the Bible says we are to be separate from the world or in but not of.

Yeah, but that's been misused as a broad generalization by churches for years. I remember as a boy, there was no Christian rock because rock music is of the world & it's the devil. They said the same thing about women wearing pants, make-up, etc........thankfully, my dad realized one day, this is retarded & I'm not going to preach this nonsense from the pulpit anymore.

We base these things on the culture we are subjected to. Yet, in other countries, being of the world has a completely different meaning. We try to impose preferences as God's law or His desires & I don't think that's what He ever intended.

One thing to do: build a library that is its own separate building, not one that is part of another building (like a community college).
One thing I would change: NO tanning salon on campus (just kidding, HMO).

blwall, you better watch out. We've had some good fights regarding dress code on here.

I think the intent of the dress code had very little to do with Christianity.

And HMO, Colmes is a puppy dog.

It was a way to bring in students that would not have come to LU otherwise. From that standpoint I like it. I just think it went a little too far that is all.

It appealed to the IFB/Hardcore Pentecostal base back in the day. The same people who go to schools like Hyles-Anderson, Pensacola & Crown. That base has waned tremendously over the past quarter century and most of those folks now don't lean so far right.

Sly, I doubt our current student body even knows what "IFB" or "IFBx" stands for, but you are exactly right: in the early years, Liberty had some rules similar to Tenn. Temple, Bob Jones, & Hyles, but Liberty's rules were much more relaxed than most of those other schools.

Trust me on that one. I was forced to go to 2 CFAWs at BJU in the late 90's and LU at that time was MUCH more relaxed. I love LU!

Realizing that Ken Karcher existed.
But then I wouldn't have had anything to write about after Thanksgiving break my first year writing for the Champion.

Wait wait wait wait wait...

You have a beef with Sean Hannity getting an honorary degree...

...but not with 'Dr.' Chuck Norris?

I didn't know we gave Chuck a degree. But now that I do I don't have a problem with that. He's a HOFer of what ever it is he does. Also, you've just opened the door to annoying Chuck Norris jokes.
