We've got a '70s area Gremlin and a Maverick (not McCain or Palin). Did anyone out there (or their dad) drive a Pinto or a Pacer?

My dad had a Chevy Vega for a while.

LUConn's right. Go back to the late 90's, gas went well below $1, in the Lynchburg area it even reached the 70 cent range. Filling up my Civic for less than $10 was nice for a poor college kid. For some reason I always hold out hope that it will one day return to those prices. I guess that's why the current prices will never satisfy, not until it goes below $2 and stays there.

Vega! We had a Vega that we used to work on in HS auto shop. That thing was just a piece of junk. Even by student built standards. Same color as this one

The Vega was not one of John DeLorean's best works.

I think a lot of people are there. I just don't think it's ever going to get back down farther than $2.00. We're conditioned to think $2.00 is acceptable now.

'74 Gremlin here (green w/ a yellow door), and a good friend was the proud owner of a rust-brown Pinto. No fires, though- sorry to report. Would have been exciting.

As noted in a previous thread, I was also the proud owner of a '70 Nova, '73 Dodge Dart, '70 Olds Cutless, '70 Impala (approx 743 feet long), '81 Chevette, '84 Citation, '85 Malibu WAGON (wire wheels and wood paneling), a '85 Dodge Charger and '87 Chevy Spectrum.

In the 90's I upgraded to Fords, going to the SHO Taurus, and several Explorers- the '98 I still drive daily.

But enough about me; back to your lame discussion 8)

the 8-track was in the Cutlass; the Gremlin and for that matter, the Nova as well, had AM radios only.

"KYW... news radio... 1060" (that song is still in my head: SCAR will understand)

In Greenville, SC last weekend it was down to 2.63-I am sure it is less now. When I graduated from hs in 99 Sheetz was just opening and ran a promotional for .69/gallon, but that was only about .10 less than normal!

$2.24 yesterday morning in Slidell, LA.

The closer I drove to Lynchburg the more expensive it became to fill up my tank.

I think they have Dickey's in Texas. In fact, I think they originated there.

I doubt Dickey's makes the cut this time around. I've been to their Texas locations and there are plenty better options down there.

Sorry I missed you in your office, CJ.

I'm just glad gas is so mucher cheaper now than when I planned this trip.
