I watched Campus Community last night. I very much appreciated Nasser taking the issue straight on. If you didn’t see it, I highly recommend watching it. I’m glad my daughters were in attendance to hear it. They needed to hear that. To date, he is the only one from LU to level with them (Provo keeps acting like nothing bad has happened and saying he is sure the kids will enjoy the many amenities that LU has to offer).

I would be interested in hearing from you as well as others who have children at Liberty or any current/recent students, how they feel about Nasser. Do they believe he is an effective spiritual leader for the school? The little I have seen of him on line did not leave me with a favorable impression, but I'm really not in a position to judge. I've just been assuming that since he is so inexorably linked to JR (and apparently Becki as well) he would need to go.

He’s saying these things as “Proof of Loyalty” or as a Public way of denying allegiance to Junior. He will be the most direct and outspoken person on campus now. He has to prove his Bonafides and purge himself of any hint of Junior stain. The words are probably the right ones to say. I don’t doubt it. But I question the sincerity behind them

My girls seem to like him. I’ve only heard him a few times myself, but I’ve been absolutely fine with what I’ve observed. I know there are many on here who have been around longer and know more behind the scenes stuff who don’t like him. I don’t know about any of that. Maybe if I knew what they did, I would feel differently - I don’t know.

He was very forward last night - pointing out that Jerry’s behavior caused him to lose part of his staff over the summer and that while he decided to stay, he completely understands and supports their decisions.

He had no trouble calling Jerry’s behavior sin, shameful and embarrassing last night. I know that this is after the fact - which seems to be most folks beef with Nasser.

I can say this - I have a much more favorable opinion of him than I do of Provo.

I get that.

I honestly have no idea how much Nasser knew/didn’t know and I have no idea if he confronted Jerry privately or with others or not .

Publicly calling out your boss is a bold move, and I’m not sure how many on here have done that in their own life. I do understand that such action was warranted though.

I think he needs to go and have thought that for a while. I actually was never a fan of the hire, but that is besides the point.

But someone had to say something and it was the right first step. It seems super easy but it took until Wednesday night to say something so clearly it isn't easy for him which probably is part of the problem.

Clearly the board isn't going to clean house anytime soon so if these people are going to remain in their positions they need to continue to make positive moves towards healing.

At this point we are arguing minor differences here. Most think Nasser should move on. I just am not going to sit here and not at least comment on this statement last night being the right thing when I was so incredibly critical earlier in the day in regards to convo. That would be pretty hypocritical of me.

I will add this and then get back to work:

I have worked for some bad bosses and one in particular always comes to mind. He was extremely toxic and so many of us wanted to come forward and say more, some did but I never did. I regret that to this day. Even after he left there was a culture of fear and it took a long time to move forward. I didn't say anything until I was given an exit interview before I transferred on. Why? Because the same leadership that did nothing to remove him was still there.

Essentially, everybody except for Jr is still in place. Now I believe he was the biggest problem, but he wasn't the only problem. The culture of fear doesn't go away right when the main problem goes away. It does take some guts for someone to say something right away when essentially the rest of the leadership remains the same.

That is why I think he deserves some credit. Is it enough to save his job? No, not in my opinion but that doesn't change the fact that this was still not the easiest thing to do.

I think we should dump the name convo and call it church again. Bring back church services and less political or star power. Do those at a different time.

Chapel.
We never called it church, because Liberty is not a church.

But I absolutely agree. 8)

I believe the name was switched due to accreditation issues.

I was about to say I agreed, but I think you might be right @Purple Haize about accreditation. That seems like a really odd requirement.

Pretty sure it was about VTAG; the money VA residents that attend private colleges get.

News flash ballcoach. It's not for you. You obviously are free to attend if you choose, but it's not for you.

It's for students! They don't want me there either.

They want students there. They'll accept old guys who never attended the school if there's room, but nothing they're doing is to attract the ballcoaches of the world.

I streamed it when Brian Welch was there! I would have attended but was out of town

He decided to stay? LOL. The ink wasn't even dry on the Jr. LOA and Nasser was burning up the phone lines, trying to keep his job.
I am not positive about the next statement I am going to make, but there are some strong rumors that he also had some, shall we say, interest in some co-eds, that magically disappeared.
He is also a very mean/condescending person.
Finally, as I understand it, he was totally silent on his Twitter page while the board was deciding what to do with Jr. As soon as Jr. was dismissed, he crawls out from under the rock. Now, if I was being paid 10x what I was worth, I would probably keep my head low too. But after the lead stopped flying, I wouldn't come up out of the foxhole and talk about how brave I was and charged the enemy, while the rest of the team was cowering in fear.
Besides the above, he also wears skinny jeans and thinks he is too cool for school. Con man, all IMHO. If he told me the sun rose in the East, I would have to go outside and check.

Not to mention Nassers wife walks into any department and thinks she owns it. They have a bad reputation of running over people, being condescending, and only wanting the limelight. I worked in a department closely related and I am glad I am out of it.

It's amazing how often at Liberty wives who weren't on the payroll walked around thinking they owned the place.
