I wouldn't feel right piling on him right now given his biggest sin looks to be being his father's son. If I'm wrong on that, please tell me.
I reached out to Trey numerous times when he was responsible for alumni. No response ever. My impression, if you're a nobody we're not interested.
I think that was Tyler. Trey never did alumni from my understanding.

thepostman wrote: August 25th, 2020, 10:47 amIt has been very interesting to see people logging into the forum that haven't for years. I don't know if that is because we all love gossip or because Jr pushed away so many people that they were no longer invested enough in the school to stick around here but either way, it is nice to see so many old members come back. Hang around!
For me it's not gossip. It's personal. It directly intersected with my personal life for a while. Frankly the only reason I've continued to pay attention to Liberty has been to see what would happen with this situation. I gave up on trying to convince other people partially out of futility and partially because it seemed unwise given the volatility of the personalities involved.

I ended up in administrative offices more than once for helping to run this message board simply because it facilitated views that differed from Jr's spin. Ah. Times were quaint last decade. 🙂

Sly can confirm that it was a delicate dance we did with Liberty back then. It seems so silly in the age of Twitter, Facebook, etc. but Jr really did not like this board. Eventually he joined to have his own word on things. (Some of y'all ate that up too.) That seemed to take the heat off.

We never gave up anyone on the board though.

Regarding Jerry's personal use of the jet, we don't know the terms of his employment agreement. Perhaps LU agreed to it and agreed to pickup Jerry's related personal income tax liability or he agreed to compensate LU for personal use.

However if thats not the case, there are a few questions:

1. Did LU's auditor deliver audit opinions that called this out as a problem?
2. Did the audit committee choose to ignore these material issues and violate their fiduciary duty?

The last public audit report I could find was for year ending June 2017. I only skimmed it but it appears silent on this issue.

https://www.dacbond.com/dacContent/doc. ... c78020bcdd

Only finding audited financial statement references for subsequent years not the full audit report.

Audit Committee:

Richard Osborne – Chairman
Dr. John Borek
Dr. Don Crain
John Heath
Steven A. Snyder
Jeffrey S. Yager
Dennis Farrell (Non-Board Member)

Cindy Gaebe (Internal Auditor)
Trey Falwell (LU Staff Liaison)

I hope the BoT was running a tight ship and everything is above board but my gut says that issues are not limited to Jerry's paraphilia. Hope I'm wrong.

I have somewhat mixed emotions this morning to be honest.

Obviously you guy except for the newest of the new know that i had a pretty good relationship with Jerry Jr due in part to how much time i spent on the mountain as a student. To be frank I I credit him for making those last three years possible before I graduated in 2009. Without him i probably am another in a long list of people who left LU because they couldn't afford it anymore or any number of other reasons. As I saw the things he said especially in the media and the behaviors he exhibited, my heart was saddened because this Jr was not the one I knew who afforded me the chance to meet people backstage after convo like Cal Thomas, Tim LaHaye (RIP), Mike Huckabee and so many others. The same Jerry Jr who gave me passes to spend time in the President's suite at football games after I "retired" from marching band, the Jerry Jr who I got to spend time with in his office, and sent my newborn son an LU shirt that i got him in on more than a few occasions...my heart was also saddened by the behavior of some (not on this board) who almost with a sickening glee piled on every article about a misdeed of his. I do believe that the move by the board was warranted, but at the same time, my heart hurt both for him and for the university that gave me so much and even changed my eternity. I pray that as he moves to his life post-Liberty that he and Becki get every bit of help they need and i will pray for him daily and hope that when our paths cross again one day, his will be a great story of redemption and restoration, not necessarily to his position at Liberty, but as a Christ follower returning from the darkest days anyone can go through.

I don't say these things as a Jr fanboy (something that I have been regularly clowned for on this board), but as someone who has seen the good in him as I'm sure many have.

Some were friendly chats about concerts we attended. Others were a little more terse with him accusing me of something and me telling him he needed better sources. Ha

They asked for names. When I got written up for the Liberty Couples thread, they told me they wouldn't give me any reps if I outed the professors/staff members who were on the board and participating.
Yeah they were casual with me about it but they fished for info a lot.

obsessing over small time detractors has always left a stench of skeeziness on anyone who'd done it.

With that said, I want to be extremely clear: This is always who Jr was. Becki probably even more so.

Yes, the public personality shift that you've all noted was real, but long before that it was clear to a lot of people working at LU that ethics were no longer in the way of doing business. Things became toxic (and frankly gross) from the moment Jerry Sr. was gone.
I hate that it is under these circumstances, but it great to have you back. Miss you, brother.
The board needs to fund a full audit of the university. Ignoring Jr's scandalous behavior, university resources have been used and abused for personal gain for years. Granda flew on the university jet how many times? I don't think looking for potentially criminal activity is out of the question either.
    100% agree.

The only person that Jerry ever cared about was Jerry.

Anyone think when we're allowed back for games we should have a welcome back day for everyone that has been disenfranchised over the years? :D
