VMDO recently presented the university’s leadership team with a 3D model of a projected campus plan. It is still in development, and Liberty will have ongoing discussions with architects to make adjustments according to demand.
The proposed changes include efforts to make campus more pedestrian-friendly, with traffic routed away from the main academic areas. Recommendations call for a new pedestrian bridge stretching over U.S. 460. A level greenway is also planned to make it easier for people to walk from main campus to Marie F. Green Hall.
The plan also calls for additional parking garages to make areas more accessible for students living off campus and guests to the university.
Liberty University has begun preliminary work on a new four-story, 150,000-square-foot student center, which is scheduled to open Fall 2016. The center will feature new dining options, gaming areas, a bowling alley, and plenty of lounge seating throughout to encourage socialization and relaxation...
...The first floor of the center will offer six new dining venues, including Garbonzo’s (Mediterranean), Star Ginger (Asian), UFood (burgers), The Grid Marketplace (a convenience store concept), and Argo Tea, which will be the first teahouse on campus. In addition to interior seating throughout, there will be patio seating on the south and west sides of the building...
...The second floor of the center will have a gaming area with billiards and various consoles. The Center for Multicultural Enrichment and Student Activities will relocate from Green Hall to the new center to provide centralized access and increased interaction with students.
The third floor will house meeting spaces for student clubs and organizations, including the Student Government Association. The north wing of the third floor will have a large dining/event space with seating for up to 700 people.
The basement level of the center will have an eight-lane bowling alley...

Several old friends from my LU student days were begging me to go to the concert with them but we've seen them several times in the last few years and just didn't have the time. PA, good thought on the Alumni Association. The new SC should have plenty of room for that! We'll make it happen! Will I be seeing you next Wednesday at ZZ Top?
