SJ you said earlier ' Ask someone who's gone before you if Liberty is a bubble.' So I was responding to your statement, stating for myself LBC was not a bubble for me. Plain and simple.

Its not ridiculous....LU is a bubble, lots of people will agree with that to a point.

The changes that have happened came about because many people, while still following the rules, voiced their displeasure. You basically just made SJ's point yourself...in a round about sort of way.

Rather than the bubble analogy, try this one: is Liberty the "real world," or do you have to leave Liberty to experience the "real world"?

I had a sibling at LBC in the late 70's, and then personally attended LU in both the mid 80's and 90's. If you think that LU is a "bubble" now, SJ, you probably would have considered it a penal colony in the 70's! The students that I interacted with in my second run at school were much more wise to the ways of the world than when I first attended. These days, I believe that it is rare to find college students that were as sheltered as those of 20 years ago. Combine the free flow of information on line with the permissive parents that seem to be prevalent today and I think that any bubble would have been popped by now!

Just my .02 worth.

I think you have to leave Liberty to get an understanding of how the real world works.

Good God that was dumb. I shouldn't come to where God was leading me to simply because I disagree with some stupid rules? Ask any alumnus if Liberty is a bubble and see what they say. There's a reason they say things like, "It's amazing when you get out of the Liberty Bubble and see what the world is really like." Ask someone who's gone before you if Liberty is a bubble.
You proved a bigger point by taking the Lord's name in vain than you did with the ramblings afterwards.

Once again, I would've never considered this school had the rules not changed.

I agree with you about 95% here. However, there are some kids that have no clue about some of the ways of the world, and it really is sad.

The purpose of this thread wasn't to bash Jon for not following the rules. It was about people who DO break the rules.

Jon decided to make it about himself so that he could win, since that's what important to him (see the "I love it when I'm right" post for proof.)

I didn't make this about me. You went after what I said, so I went after what you said. You have yet to give a good reason why people who follow the rules yet try to get them changed is wrong.

I am not the one who is coming on here saying "I follow all the rules, when do I get to change them".

You took the Lord's name in vain, and that's against the Liberty Way, not to mention the 10 Commandments...

I am not sending you to hell over that, I can't and I don't believe that at all. I do think it speaks volumes to the problem we have here, people who aren't focused on the real purpose and mission and just want things to be easier.

And you have yet to answer half of my questions.

You ignore the use of Scripture.

Frankly, it's really not worth it, except that I hate seeing the Truth get spit on like it is.

and I have answered that question, and will do it again...

I think that if you respectfully bring the issue up and those in charge decide to change it that's fine. And, please read this...

This thread was not started in response to people who follow the rules.

That has caused a lot of confusion.

But if there is a law you follow, and don't think is fair, then bring it up someone who can change it. Don't just cry about it in a public forum, ESPECIALLY when we are discussing people who actually DO break these rules. It just makes it look like you are defending them.

Ill break the Liberty Way and tell both you little girls what to do with this argument and where to place this pointless fighting.

Thanks, that's tempting but someone begged me to stop making fun of them a while back and, to this point, I've kept my word. They're just making that harder and harder to do.

I'll just have to live with adjusting my avatar. <--

Some parents, holding strongly to the biblical teaching that Christians are not of the world, seem to forget that we are still supposed to function in the world

Wanting to make fun of someone who is using Scripture to try and defend truth... nothing Saintly about that... bring it on tho, I wanna see what you have to say and how irrelevant it will be.

I never once said I follow all of the rules. Yes, my language got to where it shouldn't be, but I've been making a conscious effort about it lately. Other than that, I follow all of the rules that I can think of right now.

I'm not wanting the rules to change for me. I've gotten used to the rules and understand them and have accepted them. I want the rules to change to attract more kids who want to be in a Christian environment but don't want to have their hand held. I know there are thousands of kids out there who would want to come to this school if there wasn't a curfew, wasn't a dress code, etc. Most people have no problem with no drinking, no smoking, no things with the opposite sex, etc. Most Christian kids would have no problem with that. It's the other pointless rules that have no bearing on Christianity that I think should be changed.

So when does it stop being "welcoming" and start being "worldly"...

And this school is so much better than most other Christian schools out there, so if you wanna go to a Christian School, this would be one of the best rules wise, if not, go to a State School with "substance free" housing and a good Campus Crusade program, simple as that. Watering down what makes Liberty, "Liberty" isn't going to help. It's not like we aren't getting applicants, anyways. I think we attract students just fine with the rules how they are, and the rise in attendance should prove that.
