I also stand corrected. Our windchilld dropped to -1 right before I left.

Medic, I prefer the term bipolar for VA weather. This weekend we're forecasted to be back in the 60's. Sadly I'll be in Chicago.

We felt quite a drop here today. It was 75 degrees while we were splashing around at the lake yesterday. Today we are barely getting to 60.

I didn't think we would be getting much here in dc with how slow it started but I would say we are getting close to 8". In DC that puts the whole city in a standstill. haha

1-3 inches is enough to shut down Hampton Roads. None if it is melting today, temps in the teens and low 20s with windchills below zero here.

Wow. That is probably the hardest job I can think of. Kudos to you for staying alive all of this time.

We are getting a surprise arctic blast Monday night into Tuesday here in Houston. So I suspect you guys will get it a day or so later. They arec calling for a possible accumulation of snow here in Houston. That happens once every ten years or so.

I'm leaving my office today at the first snowflake. Mainly b/c I want to try and beat those who will totally freak out home. Its generally a 20 minutes commute in the morning, and 30-45 minutes for me in the afternoon to get from the Oceanfront to my office off Military Hwy in Norfolk. Last year during a rush hour storm, it took me almost an hour, and others with normal 15-20 minute commutes who left later ended up sitting in traffic for over 4 hours.

10 inches sounds about right...I think we got 9 at the Oceanfront. The news set up shop across the street from my apartment building and pictures were shown on Good Morning America today. The roads were covered in snow yesterday, even after plowing.

My parents and in-laws in the Hickory/Great Bridge area of Chesapeake got 8 inches. Everything's still closed down there for the most part.

When I was there last year it was freezing cold with large wind gusts. Yes, I'm jealous you got the nice weather there.

I just walked the dogs at 8am in 65 degree weather. But it is only supposed to get up to 73 today after pushing 75 yesterday.

If you are a Facebooker and you care about snowfall forecasts in VA/NC, you should follow "wxrisk.com". He has horrible grammar and can barely form a sentence, but the dude has nailed the past few storms several days before the local guys had anything on them.

Btw, Central VA is going to get buried this week.

I love wxrisk. Followed him for years.

Yes, 8-12 looks likely, possibly even more.

Not sure, but I am sure that no records will be broken. 16" in a single day is the record, but we've had more than that in a multi-day event. The last big snow we had was in late January 2010- we had 11" and some localities had more.
