Impossible to say if there will be a derecho. There will likely be something called a MCS (Mesoscale Convective System) somewhere from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic. These can become derechos, but not guaranteed. Whatever forms may even die out before it makes it over the mountains from the Ohio Valley as often happens. Last year was very rare and was fueled by the extreme heat that day which will not be around this time. I remember last year looking at the reports coming out of WV and realizing how bad it was going to be and calling everyone I could think of to warn because no one expected it. Doubt that will be the case this time.

TS Andrea was a big yawn...and they issued a tornado warning for the beach last night but I never saw a twister. I fail to be impressed by the severity of 2013's weather so far.

On a somewhat related note, I had a funnel cloud go basically over my head Monday evening in Chesapeake. That was fun.

I was referring to the weather around Virginia Beach. I don't wish death or destruction upon anyone, but my childhood dream was to be a storm chaser. This was BEFORE the movie Twister came out.

Other than Oklahoma there hasn't really been much of it. Here's a look at it.

FYI, no derecho today. Maybe some tornados though, and strong winds. Not every line of storms is a derecho. And few derechos will ever be as bad as last June. Sorry for not getting to this thread earlier. :D

Potential for Derecho to affect Mid West, Mid Atlantic June 11-14th.

There is an increasing threat for severe weather June 11th through June 14th.
A shortwave is currently in the Gulf of Alaska. This wave will continue to move East-Southeast into the United States in the coming days.
The first potential of storms associated with this wave will start Tuesday in Montana.
That's how it always works. Now everything is a derecho! haha

Not completely unheard of though , but it's been a few years since we've had an October freeze.

Some rumors floating around about something "interesting" around Halloween. It's bogus. Unless you find a cold rain interesting. Which I don't. Haha

However, I would not be surprised to see a few flakes this weekend.

There are more than a few flakes around here normally, not just over the weekend.

I recommend Head & Shoulders to get rid of the dandruff flakes
