So your criteria are:
Baptist
Army General
Connection to Liberty
Must wear Black suit with red tie in public at all times.

That’s a pretty specific list. Which indicates you have someone in mind. So who is it?
Ballcoach, I don't like the path you are taking us down -- I like my idea much better. Haven't we endured enough politics/NRA for a while? Time to get back to LU's true roots -- which is the church and developing Champions for Christ.

Ollie was a Lt Col not a General
He is a Marine not in the Army
He has no connections to Liberty

Ollie is not ballcoach’s choice

Who is your dark horse?
A personal friend who may or may not attempt to put his name in the ring. So I’ll Sly Fox you and say I can’t say. He’d be a long shot but he’s the type of person LU would need.

I think ballcoach wants a former employee or student or something like that in connection with LU. Not a friend. Plus he’d never endorse a Marine. :D

Ah, Gen Dees. He's actually a great choice, Ballcoach. I don't know why they give you such a hard time! He's been on LU's payroll as well so his experience goes beyond just coming to speak. I will say this though, IMO he is a perfect fit for a COO type of role. I rather have someone at the helm who came up through the LU ranks (as a student and/or employee) and fully understands Doc's vision for Liberty because they lived it.

Stick around. You’ll see why he gets a hard time. He earns every bit of it :D
What’s he been on the payroll for? My quick 30 second search shows him as a Public Speaker. National Security expert and someone who ran Ben Carson’s campaign :dontgetit

Great thought!
Steve's a good guy and loved Liberty!! We lost a few good people to HBU;)

Doc doesn't even meet this list. I can't wait to see who he has.

He went with Bob Dees. Of course he didn’t explain why, which is typical fraudcoach

All the HBU references make me smile. The irony is that after the Baylor ousted Robert Sloan for pushing the school to far toward the right theologically. HBU was stuggling at the time and nearly a non-factor in the community and imediately snatched him up. So for the past decade and a half, Sloan has led the university to emulate Liberty. He led them to NCAA Division I from NAIA and even hired a Liberty alum to be his first football coach. He then started poaching Liberty faculty and staff as he worked toward establishing HBU as the conservative Christian university of Texas.

Peterson even brough Jay Spencer with him to help him run HBU Online. I suspect most LU profs with at least a decade on campus personally know former colleagues in Houston.

Old timers may remember Jerry Johnston as a regular speaker in Chapel/Convo who is on the leadership team there as well.

It should be noted that this was Peterson's doctoral dissertation:

“Case Study of Liberty University’s Succession Plan from Founder to Second-Generation Leader” (2014). Doctoral Dissertations and Projects. Paper 828. http://digitalcommons.liberty.edu/doctoral/828

Dr. Peterson is a great guy. I know him personally and worked with him for many years in LUO. Most of what I learned about leadership came from him. To this day I still use one of his famous lines when referring to people on my team as those I "work with" rather than "work for me." Just the kind of guy he is. People from directors, ADs, to those on the phones were always able to approach him, and his smile was infectious. I try to keep up with the great folks over at HBU, many who I worked with for several years as well. It was sad when Randy/Kennedy moved them out citing "decision paralysis" in the newsadvance. To me, it was a slap in the face. It was certainly indicative of the type of "leadership" shown by Jerry and others.

Either way, he was the first person I thought of. By all accounts, him and Jay seems happy over at HBU but I would 100% support this move.

This is just the typical 1st convo message. Nothing wrong with it but I'm disappointed the elephant in the room was just mentioned in passing.

Yes there was. Pretending everything is normal is what got us here ballcoach.

Stick to softball my friend. I'd like the school my wife and I hold degrees from take steps to improve the culture. Addressing it in some way would be the perfect first step.

Yeah, I’m not sure exactly what there is to say. Plus, anything they say can and will be used against them
