Junior could return to run Falkirk
Jon won’t want anyone who even publicly stated they voted for Trump
I’m fine with voting for Trump. I 100% understand why many Christians did that.

I don’t want someone who has spent the last four years in politics.

At this point in the school’s history, as we look towards either what is next permanently or what it next right now, we need someone who can help change our perception to a Christian school, not a political evangelical school.

If we want to reach where we want to go, we have to be united as Christians, not united as Republicans.

The idea of having a president come in for the school and Jerry running Falkirk is very interesting.
Carson has not been on the stump the last 4 years. He has been administrating a huge government agency.

I get that. My opposition isn't that he isn't qualified. He's absolutely qualified and would probably do a good job.

From a public relations standpoint - which plays a big role in this whether we like it or not - it looks like we're replacing one Trump surrogate for another Trump surrogate.

If we brought in an interim person for the next 12-18 months then I'd be for Carson as the guy after that. He just can't follow Jerry directly.

After initial happiness at Jr’s dismissal, and don’t get me wrong, he HAD to go. I had been vocal of his need to go. I was convicted. The Lord brought to my mind Proverbs 24:17. Jr is not my enemy but nonetheless, my happiness that the board finally took a stand has turned to sorrow and conviction. If not by the grace of God, any one of us could succumb to Jrs struggles and someday be removed from our jobs. I pray forgiveness for me. I pray he gets the help he needs. I pray the Lord be glorified through Liberty U as He always deserved to be. I only say this out of my own conviction and it is not directed at anyone else.

I like TG, but he is not the guy. I don't know who the right person is, but hopefully it will be an outsider, with a vision of rebuilding the spiritual roots of the university and a stellar academic background. Race or gender should play 0% if there is an effort to hire a replacement......................... racist.
Even Bob Jones finally figured out that a person's last name doesn't qualify them to be a leader.

I worked through that feeling earlier because I experienced the same thing.

I want Jerry to get help he needs. I truly want what's best for the person of Jerry Falwell.

My joy and celebration is stemming from the board having the guts to do what was needed for the school. Regardless of who is the president moving forward, a strong board for checks and balances is a giant win for us. We haven't had that before so I will celebrate that they were given the courage to do the hard thing that needed to be done.

∆∆∆∆ Reason Dr. Carson would be a top choice. He knows the school you a degree already and spent time getting some understanding of our academics, mostly on the medical side(which could expand). He's not a politician. Did you guys remember running for the presidency? That's not for him at all. Him, with the board can make Jerry's dream come more of a reality by growing our academia. This will make us a leading challenger amongst schools who are not for Christ and with sound research with the Bible being involved, can regain the Biblical truth in the academia circuit. That's a big part of our mission and this is the best time to do it. Thankfully as a non-profit school, we have to spend money. Why not do it on the most important part of a university, the education (which is suppose to be critical thoughts and analyzation). That's just my opinion.

JJ’s not done. Board didn’t grow a pair. It’s a “leave of absence”. JJ could come back tomorrow.

Temporary place holder will be named, at best. Someone inside. Someone who can easily and willingly return control to JJ. This doesn’t feel permanent at all, so an outside option is a no-go. I doubt the board has even thought about a successor.

Jonathan Falwell. If we’re betting, and we HAVE to pick a name. That’s mine. I think it’s just as likely no one is named.

My understanding is a restoration plan is being developed which i think is the right way personally but it will be stringent. The action today was to get in front before he had time to do more damage.
It's been clear for quite some time his heart wasn't with Liberty it was with politics, Liberty was just his vehicle. I personally hope we move on with a fresh face at the helm but if Jerry is restored, like you mentioned, I hope he is on a tighter leash.
Yes, and it may not hurt to look at the by-law parameters for removal of a President (or any other trustee or leadership position), including a "fatal clause" which clearly defines certain behaviors warranting non-negotiable removal.

Intentionally - criminally - vague. “Steps” could mean anything. Why make a move if naming a successor is the plan and not have a next step ready?

Because you’re not a real board. If the board acted like a real board, it never would’ve gotten this far. I don’t think there’s any way JJ “accepts” it unless it is temporary.

I see too many people here reading all this the way they WANT to.
