I've driven on them and I've driven on a mile long gravel road that I used to live at the end of, and I would have given a lot to have the whole thing paved like those roads! :)

Liberty officials convene to discuss security measures
by Amy Field, Asst. News Editor

In response to the recent events at Virginia Tech, Liberty administration officials called a meeting in order to “reassess ‘emergency event’ plans,” according to Dr. Mark Hine, who is the vice president for student affairs. Others who attended the gathering included Dr. Jerry Falwell, Dr. Ron Godwin and Chief of LUPD, Randall Smith. The meeting, held on April 23, covered current and future security plans Liberty officials are considering to alert individuals on campus.
The enhancements discussed included the possibility of a siren being installed on the Campus North tower that would sound off in case of an “extreme emergency,” said Hine.

I've been whining for a train whistle in LaHaye for hockey. No one listens to me.

and actually, I think it was homecoming last year- LFD was on scene w/ an Engine company and they hit the siren after TDs.

don't recall a repeat performance after that, though.

i don't remember that, but i could've missed it. as far as a siren in lahaye, i think its a great idea. i'm sure as soon as you donate one they'll install it

Wonder why they didn't do it again? Ambulances/fire departments there normally sound off after the home team scores...at least around here in high school they did

Medic has an excuse. He's overwhelmed every time he shows up here. But, JDub and Atrain have apparently not been paying attention for the last, oh, five years or so.

FYI, the siren comes from the PA system, not any fire trucks that might be on hand.

no no, not THAT crappy siren.

the guys on the Engine lit it up and hit the siren. The only other games I attended they didn't even show

thinking the city didn't feel the need to send them AND the medic

it may well have been Homecoming '05 (VMI and "the" FG  )

first off, i haven't been here five years. second, i was talking about fire trucks sirens when i said i didn't notice it. i know they play something through the pa, but i'm on the front row of the students and normally when we score it gets pretty loud, so i can't hear the pa. maybe you guys should sit on the side where people actually cheer loud, you would see what i mean. hopefully we'll be able to hear better with the new pa system now though
