Numerous references to a supposed partnership between Benny Hinn Ministries and Liberty University have been removed from the Benny Hinn Ministries website.
After being alerted that the evangelist was claiming to have a partnership with LU, school officials issued Benny Hinn Ministries a cease-and-desist order April 4 citing its unauthorized use of the university’s trademark and intellectual property.

I loved Corry's last statement in the N&A article....

“This whole thing came as a complete surprise to everyone at Liberty University, except for Ron Godwin.”

Question is, what's LU going to do about that? They can't make a statement like that without some sort of action or can they?

Well at least we know he didn't take Falwell 1. But it still doesn't say who paid for the trip. It does try to tamper Godwin's 'I left without hesitation' statement.

An absolute shame that someone of this character has been allowed to be the right hand of both Sr and Jr Falwell. It just adds to the laugh that we get sometimes when we say we graduated from Liberty.

I noticed that Godwin was not part of the ground breaking ceremony for the new School Of Music building. Probably a wise choice to kept him hidden at the moment.

Also heard that JFJR is now to be called just JF as enough time has passed. JFSR can now be called Elder Falwell? Interesting that we can now call JFSR with the same title that the white shirt Mormans call themselves when they come knocking at the door.

Places ive gone, when I say I graduated from Liberty, im not laughed at...mostly people are curious and it gives me a chance to explain what the school is all about and what those years meant to me. I actually got to talk to a young lady at a school I subbed at today about the ATEP. Did bring a tear to my eye as I remembered Fumble

Goodwin and Reber creatures of habit when it comes to affillating with the wrong crowd.....
Falwell credited the directors of the foundation, Daniel A. Reber and Jimmy Thomas, with saving Liberty. Falwell made no mention of his more prominent financial angel, Moon, who is objectionable to many fundamentalist Christians because of his unusual biblical interpretations and his recruitment of young people away from their families

76 years old? Very bad move for this guy. Maybe this is a deal like Caner (sp). Demote than let him go. Any way you look at it, from an outsiders perspective, it is very bad publicity for the University.

Just not sure why Godwin gets beat up so bad on this board. He's not a bad guy, he just the guy who every company has to have that gets his hands dirty. I have worked with him for over 13 years now and have never had an issue with him. He's a businessman... Jerry Sr. loved and respected Dr. Godwin more then anyone and he played a BIG part of getting Liberty past some very tough times. And Reber too? Really? Again -wonderful guy and great family. You guys just seem to hate people who are businessmen... Sometimes situations are tough and we make deals that not everyone can understand, but I would say that 100% of them were made with the best intentions - moving this ministry forward. OK - so he made a mistake with this one - Reber had a program he owns and he is looking to make money from it? OK - maybe he will donate millions more to campus one day and maybe one person might get saved through a old Bible Program... We don't know the whole story, but for me - Godwin gets the benefit of the doubt...

Proto- I think that you are misunderstanding the argument against Godwin. No doubt, he is a great businessman, but that being said, the academic side of the institution should be managed by people who understand academics. There should be a balance between the business of a school and the quality of its educational program, including the quality of and the compensation of the faculty; the same holds true for Athletics. If Godwin was able to get his hands into the AD's business, making decisions that only Barber should be handling and dismissing or moving athletic staff as he sees fit, it would really bother many people, no matter how good of a businessman he is. That is what has happened to academics when Ron Godwin was moved into the Provost position. It is one of the beefs that some have with him, and having worked in another college for a while, the inappropriateness of his employment is even more evident.

Godwin IS an academic with an earned Ph.D. He has a good balance of academics and not letting academics run away with the institution - like majors with 5 full time faculty and 20 students - which was the case when he took over 4 yrs ago. Seriously, you guys act like LU should run like all other academic institutions - not gonna happen - and is why LU is so successful (translate - profitable!!) Godwin is the main reason for that - he is tough as nails but fair. This was a mistake and one he readily admits and one that has been blown waaayyy out of proportion. (there are facts to this story that have not and will never be revealed) While Benny Hinn is quite questionable the fact is many people - including online and resident students support his mission. Was this poor judgement, absolutely. Glad you guys aren't my judge and jury!

That was nice and you clearly have some passion but the fact of the matter is if many of did something similar and misrepresented our employer we would get fired or in my case something much more severe. It's all good though. We shouldn't take it seriously when our provost belittles my degree whether intential or not.

BuryYourDuke wrote:I've got zero problems with Godwin being a business man. The problems I have relate to someone who isn't an academic being in charge of the academic decisions, and of course, a cult member being ANYTHING of importance at "the world's largest Christian university".

It's time for Liberty to clean things up, and people like Godwin are a great place to start.
You took the words out of my mouth BYD, he needs to go. It's even more of a sensitive subject because the type of scandalous and controversial situations LU has either been associated with or been involved in. These types situations keep happening and LU's name is all over it. We all worked hard for our degrees, payed for it financially, and earned it through the tough academic rigor we've all experienced.

If the VP of Academic Affairs/Provost is covertly or overtly making our degree look like can be achieved in a 2 week period, he needs to go, and soon. I feel that he has devalued my degree with this stunt he has pulled. How can the person that runs the very core of an institution, that makes it a university, make it look a technical/vocational college at best, and continue to be employed at such university. It boggles my mind that an individual like Godwin are hired to run academic side of university, which he is clearly not qualified to do. His earned doctorate and past experiences doesn't invoke confidence in his academic administration abilities. This would never, I mean never happen at university that claims to be a reputable institution of learning, either public or privately ran.

Our administration brings it leadership, judgement, and decision making abilities into question when they hire a scum bag like this guy. I don't give rat a$$ what he's done for the university and his history with LU, he is cultist and lunatic. How are we supposed to be taken seriously by other schools for a possible academic/FBS affiliation, with these type shenanigans. At the moment, I feel embarrassed to be an LU grad. It's even more questionable that the admin would keep him on as an employee in an academic capacity, hope Jerry JR fires this turd, and hires someone who is qualified take us to the next level academically, and build our academic reputation and credibility. It's going to be harder and harder to crawl out of these situations if LU keep letting these idiots do this to our university on a national level, on television.

Fixed some issues, it hard to write and make corrections when writing from my small iPhone. Made some additions too.

I would suggest LUAddict, that the grammar you exhibited in your post may have done more to devalue your degree than anything Ron Godwin could possibly have done.

This is standard operating procedure apparently. This is the 3rd major incident where this exact defense of action (or inaction I guess) was used, by my count. Asa Chapman, Aldrekis Allen, and now Godwin. Am I missing any others? This is getting into crying wolf territory.

Here is a fact that I do know: the dude in charge of the integrity of my diploma was on an infomercial with an identical diploma, ready to give them out willy nilly.

In over your head. If it makes you feel good, I certainly won't waste time trying to change your mind.
