So our stuff is in transit. Three U-Boxes of belongings are all on their way to Lynchburg. It looks like I will have to transport the boxes from the U-Haul in Concord to our new place in Forest so it's a bit of a bummer. If anyone knows of anyone with a truck with a hitch that will allow us to pull our uBoxes from Concord to Forest I'll buy you a pizza if you want to live out your Smokey and the Bandit dreams for a few hours.

Concord? That's my neck of the woods. All I have is a Subaru Outback but it does have a trailer hitch

Yeah, the only place they would drop my shipment off is here:

No worries. I can rent a U-Haul truck for the day with a hitch. If something happened to your Subaru, somewhere a dog's heart would break.

We recently sold our only vehicle with a hitch to condense vehicles because I work from home and it didn't make sense to have two vehicles anymore.

We now have a Scion because I am still holding on to my youth (actually it's just really comfortable inside and was a killer deal).

Let me know a time & place and if I can be there, I will. With summer being in the swing at that point, I'm not sure what my schedule will be like. I expect I will be most free before noon & after 5.

Thanks for all of the offers! We should be arriving into town on June 10th after our long journey across the country. I think our belongings are arriving sometime on June 12th. If the stuff arrives on time, I'm thinking that June 13th would be the day to move everything.

If anyone is available that week, it would be awesome! I'll PM you with my personal contact info.

We left our home on Sunday, spent a couple days at Disneyland, and today we head out to Arizona on our long road trip. Leaving Disneyland to go to Arizona is a hard pill to swallow.

Should be arriving in Lynchburg on Monday. Woo hoo!

I saw Disneyland jacked their tix prices to $90! Wow

If those U-Boxes are the size of the ones sitting out front of the place you are picking them up it will be no problem for my trusty Subaru. Just let me know.
And don't be hatin on AZ. I'd love to move out that way!

Living there and driving across it are two separate matters. At least this means Yacht Rock will get some time on Texas along the way. Granted, it isn't the prime part of the Lone Star State. But at least there should be a DQ at every exit. Although I recommend Braums for burgers and ice cream across West & North Texas. I suspect SumItUp will back me up on this one.

Yeah, it can be expensive.

Thanks for the offer! Appreciate it very much! The boxes are supposed to arrive on the 12th but we will see how things go. :\

Made our way to Holbrook, AZ yesterday and stayed in some Wigwams and today made our way to Tucumcari, NM. Tomorrow heading out to Oklahoma City.

Hasn't been a bad drive so far and the kids have been surprisingly calm and enjoyable. We have logged over 20 hours in the car so far though. Crazy. I think the trip to Disneyland after the first 7 or 8 hours of driving helped.

I think I saw these referenced in the original Cars movie my kids made me watch a zillion times.

That's pretty sweet. There is one similar just south of Houston that pass while heading to a client a couple of times a year.

I am guessing that you will be passing through Amarillo by morning. The Cadillac Ranch is on your side of the road as you head east a few miles before you roll into the 'Rillo. Your kids will probably groan at the walk but they will love climbing on the old Caddies.

The Big Texan is a tourist trap but it is a hoot. After seeing the Grand Canyon, Palo Duro isn't worth the time investment unless you flat out love canyons. It is beautiful but nowhere near what you saw in Arizona.

And as you drive through Oklahoma, I stand by my recommendations for a lunch at Braums. Their burgers and shakes always hit the spot for my crew when passing through the state of Dirt Burglars and Land Thieves (sorry, SumItUp).
