Student participation in on-campus demonstrations, petitions or picketing is prohibited unless approved by Liberty University administration. The administration may also prohibit or restrict student participation in demonstrations, petitions or picketing at places other than on campus, where such participation would contradict or otherwise compromise the principles and policies of Liberty University.

What, exactly, would they be protesting anyway? They have a place to live and it seems like the school is leaning toward some sort of a financial credit based on the N&A article.

Are those Facebook whiners serious? I've got two words for them ... Grow Up. Life is going to drop adversity in your laps on a regular basis. That's how we grow stronger. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that kids will act like kids. But those comments are embarassing for them.

seriously though...for the most part these guys have been taking it well, there are always 2 or 3 people that make a whole group look bad...

they have a right to be upset...yes bad stuff happens in life all the time...but no matter how old you get, you still get upset when those bad things happen...as you get older you learn to handle it better....these guys are 18/19/20....this is how you think at that age...its perfectly normal....

READ: Tuesday, October 23 from 5:30-hall meeting we will create the largest faux refugee camp Liberty has ever seen! We will meet for dinner at the ROT at 5:30, eat, then go back to the courtyard and set up and chill and play games and whatever till hall meeting.

Just get some sleeping bags, blankets, whatever and make it look as much like a refugee camp as possible.

I think it would be especially great at some point if some people were out there with a mirror in one hand a razor in another just shaving and using a bucket of water or something.

I know we are in mourning and many of us are not shaving until our dorm gets back, but this is the one exceptional time you can.

We're gonna have a big sign out there that says "Dorm 7 Refugee Camp". Get some poker going out there too, have some people napping, just stuff like that.

Get a hammock, make a fake tents using sheets, whatever you can think of, that isn't going to violate the liberty way or cause tooooo much trouble.

It will just be a good night for all of us to get together with each other and our sisterdorm. Just play some games and have a bit of a picnic or something as well as make a good joke for Jerry Jr or Jonathan to comment about in convo.

It's the whole 9-11 widows/katrina victim mentality. I'm sure they'll be petitioning Tim Kaine to receive comparable compensation that the virginia tech shooting survivors got. These guys are sissies and should be treated as such.

Not everyone looks at it that way. Does it suck? Yes. I'm sure they want to get back to their roommates and friends but I'm sure most have adjusted in their temporary location. I have an extra roommate now--it's an inconvienence but also isn't something I can't adjust too.

It's not something that hasn't gone unnoticed, just a situation where outsourced engineers felt it wasn't that big of a deal. The first group that came in to look at the building didn't even feel like anything needed to be done (I'm not saying the Residence Hall itself isn't in bad shape, it needs a LOT of work, but the damage didn't make the building "inhabitable") but Jerry Jr. called in a second opinion and they just wanted to do some more research.

The whole ordeal is being blown up into something it doesn't have to be.

Not that they should complain forever because thats ridiculous, but I just dont see why students should be expected to just act like nothing happened.

Besides, if people make a big deal about this, most likely the school will have to make improvements on how they regulate their buildings in general, something that will eliminate the snowball effect we have now.

Sorry, buddy, but no. It's been a problem for years, and they were aware of it. It was on their radar, but it wasn't something that made the building uninhabitable. However, the engineers believe the recent dry weather (or some other factor y.t.b.d.) caused a sudden shift. So, the timetable has been pushed up.

I can understand being upset over having to move mid-semester. What I cannot understand are all of the conspiracy theories and accusations of negligence just to save a buck. (I'd be very careful throwing around the term negligence, by the way.) This school wants to take care of it's students. It's doing the best it can with what it has. I know 18-22 year olds know how to run EVERYTHING better than anyone else, but give the old folks a chance. They're not here to "getcha" or get rich off of anyone. There's no need for the conspiracy theories.

It all comes down to what students have been saying since I got here: we're worrying so much about expansion that we're neglecting what we already have. We just built brand new dorms two years in a row, but we've got dorms falling apart that we're not doing anything about. It took two years of horrible traffic on campus to get a transit system. They're doing everything they can to get kids here without thinking as much about the ones who are here. Yes, we've gotten some great things, but even in terms of Student Life, etc, it's all based around how to get kids here.
