At the moment, we don't know how deeply emersed this kid was in terms of neo-nazism or any of the related cult groups. [\quote]

If at all. Again, that's a monster conclusion to jump to.

Actually, it is what I have been saying all along. My statements are filled with hypothetical "ifs", "maybes", and the like.

What conclusion? It's only a liitle speculation. Certainly nothing to get heated about.

Well, since that's what we're discussing, there seems to be one very important fact that's been left out of all this speculation about the kid's intentions. His family turned him in because he told them that he was going to bomb the folks from Westboro Baptist Church. I'm sure it's fun to ponder the depths of this idiot's soul, but I just don't think it goes much deeper than that.

Call me crazy, but I tend to go with that whole "simplest solution" bit.

One last note on the BBC broadcast and the nazi/occult discussion:

The BBC program that I am refering to is a production from the 1950's that includes personal first hand accounts of neo-pagan nazi occultic rituals and satanic practices. It is one of the most riveting historical documentaries that I have ever seen.

This is obviously not represented in the more superficial historical accounts of Nazi Germany. But any thorough, detailed, and in-depth account of the nazi belief system would have to include the occult element. And several well-researched and reputable documentary and history books do indeed chronicle the occultic dimesion.

theres way to much speculation here. the kid had what would make a large fire in the back of his car, and said he was gonna use it on Westboro protestors. they found some stuff on his computer, but they don't know anything more about what he was into or anything. i think we should wait for some more information before we tie him to being a neonazi falwell hater

It could very well be that simple. But, I for one, am disturbed enough by the Nazi connection here that I'd have to hold anything suspect that supports this kid or attempts to trivialize the event until we learn how deeply entrenched this kid was with regard to Nazism.

If the Nazi and the "Crip-related" pictures -- how come you're not fixating on that one, 'dox? -- on the kid's computers were in his temporary internet files folder, it means absolutely nothing.

I thought the same thing.

The way some journalists are, this kid could've had a presentation on Nazis, looked up a bunch of stuff, had it embed in his Temp files, and then someone printed it. That's far fetched, but it could be what we're talking about in this situation.

The focus on the neo-nazi element is obvious. The news piece went into detail describing a few pictures that would be consistant with someone who at the very least has a minor affection for neo-nazism. The name "Crips" was mentioned with no details. So, there is nothing to build on there and it may turn out to be inconsequential nonetheless.

When the article said they found 25,000 pictures on this computer, temporary internet files was the first thing that came to mind for me. Do you know how much and how long it would take to intentionally and individually save 25,000 pictures?
Me neither. I just know it's a lot more work than I'm willing to put in.

The Crips thing is interesting though. A white boy in the Crips would be like a black man in the skinheads. So, I'm not so sure what the Crips reference means other than the fact that this kid and his friends are unstable and they appear to be fixated on violence and intentify with fringe groups.

I have a movie on my computer documenting the history of the Bloods and the Crips. I've googled both of them, looked up information, and all of that. Does that mean I want to join them, or simply that I had an interest in the history and where it came from?

I have a fascination with the history and rules within the old Italian mob, does that mean I want to be a part of it?

This is the statement that is troubling:

"Anderson said a search of Uhl's computer found 25,000 stored images, about half of them pornographic. He said there were pictures of Hitler, of young people giving Nazi salutes, a picture of Hitler with a gun in his mouth and the caption "Follow the leader," and another simply captioned 'I love Hitler.'"

I don't think that it would be to far-fetched to suggest that this kid and his friends may be involved with a neo-pagan, anti-Christian fringe group.

Well, I can't envision you as a blood or a crip, but this whole itialian mob thing deeply concerns me

Dude, If you had Hitler youth stuff, I love Hitler stuff, and follow Hitler stuff on your computer and you go down to Lynchburg with bombs for Jerry's funeral, then yes, you are going to be seriously and thoroughly investigated.

As a university though, we need to learn from this mistake and make sure that we conduct simple and basic background checks on all prospective students.

LU turned away thousands of students this past year and this kid somehow got in even though he had a history with bombs connected with his old high school.

Perhaps something was left out of his HS records up in Culpepper. If this is the case, then LU needs to fully investigate the matter and bring that HS into accountability.
