Hi...those of you that know me know that I'm a pastor in Halifax.

Our association down here is having a back to school block party as a witnessing tool on August 9th from 5 - 7PM.

We're looking for a contemporary Christian band that would like to play (they wouldn't have to play the entire time...I think they're looking for at least 30 minutes of music, though).

Halifax/South Boston is about 1 hour 15 minutes south of LU. Any of you know of some good groups to contact?

point of honor! i was in the dorms with one of the guitar players. they're pretty awesome. jdub and i checked them out in kernersville, NC this past semester. you're right, they're always looking for gigs. too bad they're booked.

you could get SJ to do it. the one-man wonder.

point of honor is all christian members, but i don't think they play "contemporary christian music". just thought i'd point that out. correct me if i'm wrong, but it sounds to me like he's looking more along the lines of campus praise band

Find a guitarist, singer, and drummer and I'll join up with some people and put some stuff together before then. It's just the matter of finding those three things.

Thanks for all of the replys and suggestions. We're not looking for a praise band. We actually have a praise band at my church.

We're actually looking for some people doing more pop/alternative Christian stuff. Our praise band - we do "vineyard" type stuff - but that's not what we're looking for here. This is a back to school event, we want something that the non-churched kids would listen to. ALso, I'm not technically the one looking.

The association has a missions committee, and there the ones actually in charge. I'm friends with the pastor on the missions committee. The problem is, they don't really have a funding.

I'm going to see if I can get the youth committee of my church to donate some money to the missions committe since we're borrowing their van this week...and I'm hoping that I can get it "earmarked" to go towards paying the band's travel expenses from L-burg.

It won't be much, even if I can swing it...maybe something like $75-$100...

So what the committee is really looking for is a sort of new band that just wants the exposure, or someone who just wants to minister to kids, even though it's not really beneficial financially.
