Liberty University’s graduation will be held outside later this month for just the third time in the school’s history.

Graduation was held in Williams Stadium in 1990, when the keynote speaker was President George H.W. Bush.

The main commencement will be in the stadium. Each college/school will then break for the calling of names...all which will be inside. The College of Arts and Sciences will be held in the Vines.

We also had it outside at the football stadium for Billy Graham, and it rained. Everyone got wet except for Billy, who was under a tent. I guess the faculty will be able to check out the Fieldturf up close and personal.

In the old days, before the football stadium, we used to have graduation outside on the baseball field--that's where we heard Ollie North speak. Overall, I really like outdoor graduations--black robes and the smell of sunblock in the air.

That setup at Worthington Field was a mess for Ollie. I cringe even thinking of it. But that was back Pre-Vines and Liberty Gym wasn't going to cut it.

This setup should work just fine rain or shine. No one is going to melt.

I don't remember if it was myspace or facebook, but some girl was ranting and ranting about it because her grandparents are coming and she just thinks that Williams Stadium would be too uncomfortable for them...i thought it was pretty funny

If it is held outside from now on, they will store them and keep them for next year.

1997 graduation was a rainy day. The umbrellas were bad. I'm glad they are outlawing them.

I guess we should have asked this first...do you think LU is planning on selling them to people, or are they giving them away?

If it rains, they'll give em away.

If it doesn't rain, they'll wait and sell em at a football game when it does rain.

Ruined a very expensive suit the day that Bill Graham spoke. Couldn't fit in it today anyway
