I'm excited about this development. With all the land they're including, they have enough room to build something along the lines of a Short Pump Town Center, and I hope they make it something similar. Room for expansion is key, and I hope they keep that in mind when planning it out. Whatever happens, I hope they do it right, because this land is one of the last few open spots left for new buildings, and this project could effectively determine Lynchburg's future (from a retail/commerce perspective) for at least the next several decades.

Most of all, I really just want a nice movie theater.

So, Lynchburg will get around 1,200 more mostly low paying retail jobs. I love Lynchburg's plan for job growth  This is going to get the local college students to want to stay and work in Lynchburg after graduation. It will be great for them while in school, but won't keep them here afterwards. This while Centra Health and Areva are laying off.

Good point. Of course, for the LU grads, there are always staff positions at LU (thanks to their infamous turover rate).

I'm all for more options in Lynchburg, but we need some more better paying employment options. Otherwise, there is less than 1,200 new jobs as people will need two of those to make ends meet. Yeah, LU certainly does always have quite a few positions listed.

this is all about building the tax revenue, and their are many who would need those jobs. with more amenities better jobs will come. lyncburg has come a long way, and will continue to grow and attract better jobs.

Just a brief update on this: the trailers are now disappearing at a rate of about one per day.

*EDIT: 4/28/07 11:36 a.m.*
There's a fire in the trailer park. Someone is burning a porch and/or some other leftover wood and trailer-related debris. I thought that was illegal before 4 p.m.
