I remember someone saying they know an agent down there-can't remember which thread so....
There are a couple people I know down there but figured it's easier to ask ya all first. Not that it'll matter in the end-my husband goes from saying he'll put a deposit on something while we're down there if he finds something to asking if I want to check out a house a couple towns over from us up here b/c taxes are cheaper thAn our city. (Note: he has also had a New Hampshire phase in the past....) Some friends are telling us to move to TN-close to Knoxville, Smoky Mtns.....

Jackie Kramar at Harmony Homes and Land was really great to me and my wife. (434) 841-9200 is her number.

Jeff Barker at ReMax First Olympic in Lynchburg. He's got a construction background and knows what to look for.

However, the state and local sales tax averages around 9.4%.

We drove around on Sun. saw one ReMax house inan area to definitely avoid (didn't get ahold of Jeff yet). I printed some out ahead of time- we couldn't find Fairview Hts. We looked round off Fort Ave. There were some Harmony signs- we contacted Jimmy Marston and he's supposed to let Jackie know that we were referred to her. There are so many brick homes! I hav to look into how it's maintained...my grandparents in MA had a brick one; my uncle renoated and added to it but it's very old (historical in Hampden, MA). There wa a man walking by that is selling his beutiful brick home- didn't have sign up yet; sai anothe house on the st. sold for 2??ki 6 days on the market; also, the st. has a lot ofkids. We need to do a lot of praying abt. direction....
My friend down there gave me the name of someone at her church too.

Marie Martin (although not sure of the "new" last name) has been a HUGE supporter of Athletics at LU. Didn't buy a house from here but she supports us. Also, Renato Mendez with DeWitt is an EXCELLENT agent. I would avoid Scott Bonheim. Hope that helps. Also, look to the East side of Lynchbug out by Concord. It "seems" like it is far away, but I can get to anything faster on Wards road then my wife can from EC Glass. Plus it is Campbell county taxes (lowest) and you get a lot more for your money

Thanks :) We went through Concord to get to our campground (had pop-up, surprised by how cold it got down thar but had heater w/ us). It was abt. 20 min. from campus- not toooo bad except Sat. night (2 nights lousy sleep behind me) when I went to camp w/ toddler and Mr., helped get her settled, went back to campus to meet up w/ my son who was watching the theatre production. It was a little heavy (they warned there would be two killed, one being a child...) but he enjoyed being there b/c we missed last yr's performance; he said he wanted to move to VA. Of course, now that my sister left a message describing a house for sale near her in MA, his tune has changed again. (My husband does NOT want MA).
BTW, does anyone know if you can purchase tapes or anything of performances done in the Fine Arts?

Really wish I'd gotten on here yesterday or earlier today; my husband was in Roanoke last night. He had come up from the Carolinas. (SJ should scold him for only spending enough time in SC to go to {Paris Island}). I didn't have time to check the spelling of that nor of {Camp LeJune} where he did his military training in NC abt. 35 yrs. ago! Tonight-Fri.-he's at the Extended Stay across from the hockey rink.

He likes Bedford-looked at some brand new houses. One he liked is being sold by a couple that was asking over 200K; even at the lower price he said we'd have to win the lottery.
I did refresh his memory abt. the advice that Scorcho, Lib., Purple and Badger gave few months ago.

If anyone wants to bust his tail tomorrow (don't know how long Sat. he'll be there) just PM me :D He should stay for a few days...since his job doesn't start back until April but the car has some issues. We just got a brand new truck in Jan. but it sucks gas...still, I wish he had it, esp. in this weather. (Got a good 7in. ? up here).

I'm from NC, not SC. The more time he spends here the better.

SJ- I assume you meant the more time the better to look at more houses.... He headed out at 9:30 this morn. :( He does have a pic./video of house he really liked.
Meanwhile, I just saw this morn. on internet that Alaska is offering free land in Anderson; my husband has alays wanted to be an entrepenuer(?)- the closest gas sttion and grocery store is abt. 20m away; I have years of experience in various supermarket dpts. But then our son wouldn't get the tuition break at LU....
