RICHMOND — Lawmakers sitting on a Virginia commission that invests money from a national tobacco settlement approved an extension for a grant to Liberty University’s medical school, against the urging of the commission’s executive director.
The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission allocated $20.5 million beginning seven years ago toward the construction and operation of a medical school with an emphasis on training and placing doctors in Southside and Southwest Virginia.
