I don't have a problem with them hammering kids for staying the night at their BF/GF's house, or even just staying the night at a friend of the opposite sex. IMO there are few exceptions like the one that was stated above. I graduated in 2000 and know of several instances where girlfriends stayed the night at their boyfriends and vice-versa! My friends and I even left campus to camp out in the same tents with the females in our group (it was a giant tent). Although my instances did not end in sex, in hindsight it certainly wasn't a good idea. The vast majority of instances I knew of where BF and GF stayed together ended up being sexual at some time. (I've got plenty of stories about walking in on friends

)
Reps for visiting apartments is silly and I never have heard of it being enforced, but I can understand why the University would not want guys and girls staying at each other's houses overnight. Even if it is 100% legit, Liberty does not want to have to play detective. I think Liberty is still trying to make an environment that is not choking kids like a Bob Jones or Pensacola, but doesn't want to become a school like Baylor or Wake Forest that have pretty much become secular institutions. A school that is firm on alcohol/drugs and sex, but yet is still attractive to the 18-24 year olds of the world. A school that is still strong doctrinally, but is also known for showing grace and mercy to those who do screw up. IMO it is never a good idea for an 18-22 year old kid to stay the night with the opposite sex if it is not an emergency/no choice situation. The penalty should be steep. A girl I was friends with was dismissed for those reasons. I didn't feel sorry for her because this was her second offense within the same year. She was caught in the guys dorm, and then caught on a camping trip with guys.
Bottom line, if I were a parent (I'm neither a parent nor married), I would feel much better knowing that my 18-20 year old kid was being watched for those type of things. Hopefully they will know better, but if I found out my 18 year old daughter stayed the night at a guys apartment or boyfriends house, I would be very angry (obviously at her) and vice versa with my boy.
Of course this is coming from a guy who spent a week at Spring Break in one big hotel room with several girls.
Wow how things change!
