My wife and I...and some others are throwing around the idea of making the trip up to your guy's humble abode. My wife called hotels yesterday and almost all of them require a minimum 2 night stay that weekend because of Homecoming. We found one hotel, a Holiday Inn, about 15 minutes North of campus, on Main St. We have not booked anything yet, but do you guys know of any other hotels in the area where you can book for just one night? And is that Holiday Inn in a decent location?

Thanks!

If that's the Holiday Inn downtown it's not too shabby. Plus there are a ton of great restaurants around there. I recommend The Boiler Room. There is a Super 8 in Appomattox and a Days Inn in Bedford. Appomattox will take you 20 minutes but you'd be going opposite the flow of traffic. Bedford will be longer. South in Gretna there is a Hampton Inn.....but your in the middle of nowhere with the options of Subway or DQ.
Hope that helps

Thanks PH. When you say going opposite the flow of traffic, won't people all be headed in the same direction to the game?

No. Most people are coming from west of Lynchburg. You'd be coming from the East with the super easy access from 460. Everyone else will be lined up at the other entrances. You can also take that route from Downtown as well. I live 1/2 way between Lynchburg and Appomattox east of campus and it takes me under 15 minutes to get to LU and I laugh at those stuck in traffic!

Have to second PH- the Holiday Inn is a great place to stay- convenient to the school and plenty of great eating. Sure, you'll spend less going to Appomattox or any other town 20 miles out, but on game weekends, downtown is a great place to be. On Saturday morning, enjoy the best coffee in town at The White Hart as well as fresh bread, brötchen and pastries from Lorraine Bakery in the Farmers Market.

SMOOTHIE is correct. A dinner at Boiler Room and Breakfast at Main St Market (pancakes are like butter!) will go a long way to soothing butt that will be getting kicked later in the day!

I gotcha. Thanks for the info. I will have to check with the wife and see if we can swing this. I'm not too confident that we can though :(
