I've been thinking about moving to the Lynchburg area, but I'm not from the area so I have no idea about where to look for jobs in Virginia as far as websites go. Can anyone offer tips on job hunts in the area, or some good sites to get started? (Yes I've tried google, but there are so many job sites to go through)

What kind of job are you looking for? There always seems to be lots of engineer jobs. And lots of low paying high experience stuff. I would try looking around Roanoke or Richmond if I didn't already live here. I guess it all depends on what you want to do though.

Indeed.com is a good aggregator, the Virginia Employment Commission website, USAjobs.gov, occassionally there's a legitimate posting on Craigslist. Go to some of the bigger employers' websites directly. Blueridgehelpwanted.com is actually a pretty decent one, it's more blue-collar type postings.

If you are looking in a specific field, a field specific website would be better. For example, if looking for a college sports job, the NCAA Job Center would be the best. Or if looking for a non-sports college job, Higheredjobs.com would be a good one.

Thanks, I'm not really looking in a specific field. I just graduated in 2011 (CMIS major) and the little experience I do have is all over the place and not really related to my major. MilwaukeeJobs.com is the main job site up here and needless to say, that's not gonna cut it.

I'd love to consider myself an engineer (I work with AutoCad, and a lot of 3D models), but without any formal training I don't know how well that job search would go, so it looks like it's back to the drawing board. I appreciate all the help you guys have contributed.

Hey, I'm looking for a decent job myself if anybody here knows of one. Lynchburg has been slim pickings lately.
