Liberty University School of Law, which received full accreditation from the American Bar Association in August, seeks to position itself as a leader within the small niche of conservative evangelical law schools in the United States, said the school’s dean, Mathew Staver.
The goal is to train “champions for Christ,” according to the LU motto, or Christian lawyers who will work in all fields of law, guided by their conservative values and God-centered education.
At LU, law is yet another avenue for evangelism.
“Literally, there’s no area that we don’t want our students to be in,” Staver said. “We see that when Christians and people of moral values retreat from any area then that becomes a vacuum. We have no one to blame but ourselves if we retreat.”
Receiving full accreditation was a milestone for the fledgling law school, which was established in 2004 and currently enrolls 318 students.
