As a Texan, this category in near & dear to my heart. Dickey's debuted on top in 2009 but not before getting some serious competition from another Texas-based chain, Poke-E-Joes. Who'll sit highest in the saddle in 2010?

haven't been to dickey's yet (don't go out to eat all that often, once a month at the most), but Pok-E-Joe's is some seriously good BBQ. I'll have to check out Dickey's sometime if it can give PEJ a run for its money.

Wilber's RULES!!!

Daddy Bims was NOT Eastern NC Style....I don't care what they say. It was crap.

Also, didn't Spry's shut down. I think there is some meat/seafood place there. I could be wrong, though.

If this is the place next to Starbuck's, then yeah, it's supposedly seafood. But that location is a different place about every six months and is rarely open.

It looks like the pickins are getting slimmer. I'm actually glad to see the Austin-based chain getting the most love thus far. I lived on Poke-E-Joes sandwiches every spring at Disch-Falk Field cashing in my Augie bucks. Sliced or chopped, it was all awesome. Hopefully the Virginian crew follows the Texans' lead.

I went to Poke E Joes last night. I'd been there before and had an awesome burger and that's what I got again. But I did sample the actual bbq for the first time and it tasted identical to Dickies. I guess because they're both from Texas. Which is good, not my favorite but I certainly don't see one being better than the other.

You need to try it. C and C burger. It's topped with chili and cheese and underneath the patty they hide crushed up fritos. It is freaking awesome.

Depends on where you're from.

I read that & thought they don't taste the same. Then I figured you probably meant beef brisket instead of what I call BBQ. There is a difference in taste regarding their pork BBQ.

no I was talking about pork. I'm no BBQ aficionado but I do try it wherever I go, and can tell the differences. And these 2 taste the same.
