On the backside of Candler's Mtn, right next to candler's mtn rd there is an enormous pole being erected ( ). Anybody know what it's for? Are they finally doing something with the WiMax license? It's like right where that little creepy cemetery is and it is by far the tallest thing on this side of town.

well, it's probably not a wimax tower. This article is only about a month old and it quotes that they're still waiting for the results of a stimulus application

DigitalBridge has contracts with Amherst and Bedford counties to deploy wireless Internet systems there, and it is work-ing on a non-contract basis with Campbell County. On Monday DigitalBridge applied for federal stimulus dollars to help pay for equipment in those systems.

Wallace said the company applied for $2.2 million for Amherst County, $2 million for Bedford County and $3.1 million for Campbell County. He expects to hear the results of the application sometime this summer, and much of the systems could be ready to use nine months later, he said.

where I live now im about 20 ft from 3g service, it blows in every once in a while, but is frustrating as heck. Att has that app for letting them know where their service is lacking, and i report it like 10 times a day. some day they may listen
