BTW - I am going to Pirates spring training this year in Bradenton so I will scope the Hillcats roster for this year - cant wait! Pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks!

Reading the Gene's post on the other board brought the funniest memories at that place back in 2000. That place was awsome. I hit the cue ball a couple of times on the break to the bottom floor and got all nervous thinking people were going to start throwing it down or something but the guys were real cool and just gave it back with no problems.. If I had the money, I would buy it and renovate it some but keep the same atmosphere. What was up though with the random paintings on the wall like the lady holding the baby with one arm and a assualt rifle in the other? Where was the m.s. pacman machine as well? That must ahve been pre-2000.

Hold my own or any other SMGT major: Where is Dr. Gibson nowadays? I know he went to Knoxville, but does he still comeback and visit? Who is teaching the SMGT classes now?>

I just got here so I don't know who he is. The SMGT classes are all taught by Dr. Hawkins (who's our King), Dr. Blosser, Dr. Bell (who I love), and Dr. Martin (I love her too). I haven't had Blosser or Hawkins but everyone I've talked to likes em.

You know, I'm surprised there isn't a "R.I.P. Gene's" thread on here. The place was sold off and/or shut down in the past several months, leaving us without a quality pool hall. Friendly Cue is okay if you have firefighter gear, or at least some infrared goggles, provided you can handle excessive smoke inhalation.

In other news, Putt-Putt is now only 36 holes, as they demolished Course #3 to put in bumper boats.

sorry to hear about Genes- though Fergie would've been about 110 yrs old by now I guess

Anyone know if he was he there to the end?

There's the D-Day memorial out in Forrest. Yes, I'm a total history nerd (and I married one, too!), but it's a pretty neat setup.

Sadly, Ferguson passed away back in 2001-ish (although I'm unsure of the exact year). In fact, I didn't discover Gene's first-hand until after he was gone.
