What I heard (and it may purely be rumor), is that a couple of kids were riding ATVs back there and got hurt. So now, the view from my house will include poles and a wire cable fence.... lovely!

I don't know exactly where that land is at, and this is complete speculation, but if it is having a trail cut on it they would gate it. Most of the trail entrances have gates on them so that is a possible explanation

True. The atv story is possible too. There are a couple of kids that are always riding them back there.

So I guess it's confirmed that power boats are not allowed?
Powerboats are not allowed on the lake, he said, but residents often use it for boating with a battery-operated or trolling motor, and fishing.

they are speaking of ivy lake. currently no power boats are allowed. that is not a city ordinance though, that was the rule by the owners. The new owners can set the rules to whatever they want or maintain the current rules

maybe if you get a trolling motor and then paddle to add some speed you'd reach the equivalent of 5hp
