As a Texan and carnivore this category is near and dear to my heart. There are a wide range of styles listed here. Eat heartily.

And if you have other suggestions please bring them to me.

You included Logan's but left Outback off the list?

He obviously didn't think of Outback or noone suggested it.

If I wanted to eat 8 pounds of red pepper heaped on top of a 4 ounce steak, I would gladly go to Outback.

No one nominated Outback but it has been added.

Millstone Tea Room has it's purpose...but it's not somewhere I can consider a "Steak House" if this was a "Best Special Occasion" thread then that wins hands down

The best steak here is the Wild West Ribeye at Millstone Tea Room. You will never eat another steak without comparing it to that.

There's no doubt that their food is not only the best in Lynchburg (well really bedford) but it can compete with any place in L.A., New York or where ever you may travel at whatever cost

Obviously this is a biased poll as the prices at Shoemakers would be more then most can afford. I will say that it makes Crown Sterling look like Burger King. Having eat at The Shoe last nite only confirms my vote. Not only are the Steaks thick and cooked to perfection, the "extra's" put it well over the top. Sure, New London and Crown Sterling have salad bars, but the Wedge at Shoemakers is great. Add to that a nice wine list, incredible French Onion soup and superlative sides (Macaroni and Cheese is to DIE FOR) and you have a complete steak house. The draw back is the price, but it is well worth it!

Shoemakers sounds like its worth looking into. One thing I got from my dad is an appreciation for good French Onion soup.

No steak comes even close to Ruth's Chris in Richmond.

I have been to all except Shoe and Millstone. I'm going to have to try those next summer.
My vote went with Crown. I love having the cart brought out and the guy moving his knife until I say stop thereby getting a big fat aged steak.

Also, the Pittsburg style with a nice medium-rare. I'm digging the Crown.

I have been and I'll take Crown any day of the week. There good, but I just have a hard time spending that much money of a dinner. And one of our clients grew Ruth's from 33 locations to where they are today.

The only Ruth’s Chris I’ve been to is the one in Richmond. My parents have been to several and say none of them come close to the one here.

Here is a sample menu from Millstone. Notice the last main course item. $25.50 is not a bad price to pay for the quality of steak they serve.

I went to Ruth's Chris in Virginia Beach with my dad for my 25th birthday. Best steak Ive had thus far. if the steak at the Millstone is as good as bl says, I will probably have a new favorite at that point.

This is one of Lynchburg's biggest rumors...another was Olive Garden but we finally were able to put that one to rest...it's just a matter of time
