Shopping story aside, dowel rods and an old volleyball net work just as well.

I love it when the little guy can keep stuff in stock with the big national retail chains can't. :clapping
When ever I'm looking for something going store to store I always go everywhere possible before going to True Value. And then I finally go there and they always have whatever it is I want. I really don't know why I don't go there first. I was looking for applewood to smoke, nobody in town has it except for True Value. I was looking for some of those clear plastic mat covers and nobody in town has it except for True Value. I was looking for a cork to cork something. Nobody else had it (or at least had it where I could find it) except for True Value. Long story short, go there first.

Who uses corks any more? People don't even use them to fish with, I don't think. I hope his wife or girlfriend didn't tell him to "put a cork in it" and he took them literally.

Is this really true? I think I got about 5 of the same thing last weekend and no receipts for anything.

For the record, I think Wal-Mart rules for groceries and generally is better, but you always feel like 95% of the people are on food stamps in there. I usually just suck it up and go anyways though.

Yep. Just bring in or print out a copy of your registry and I believe it's on the first page there is a bar code they can scan and can be used as your reciept.

Wal-Mart is the only store I ever go to and feel like I could get in a fight.

I think they ship in their customers, because they are the same no matter where you go.

If it's near the beginning of the month, all the welfare folks will come out in masses too, and for some reason nearly half of them walk around like a jack... with a bluetooth device stuck on their ear as if they are expecting important business calls 24/7.

Wait, I know what they are waiting on, the call back from Jerry Springer (or any other morning/afternoon talk show) to find out the results on the 58th person they got tested to see if they are their baby's daddy.

I went to the Altavista Wal-Mart today to get tires, and I have to say it's WAY more peaceful than the one on Wards. Maybe we'll see something more like that if they actually build another one in the burg.

still intrigued by LUconn's cork experience.

In the same way that I'm intrigued by train wrecks and shootings.

you just gotta watch in spite of yourself.

I've been shopping for a green steel belted Coleman cooler all summer. I ordered one online from Target, & they shipped the wrong one (stainless steel, not green). Looked at Dicks & Wal-Mart, but no luck. Yesterday I was in True Value buyng a furniture pencil, and there was my cooler directly behind the cashier on the floor, so I bought it before someone else snatched it up. True Value is a gold mine!
