Wow, not often a Hyles-Anderson reference finds it way onto the board. I went with my youth group to their annual Youth Conference four or five times. I used to laugh when they made direct reference to LU being a place Christians should not attend college. One year, they showed a video of a DC Talk concert to the 5,000+ in attendance, and proclaimed it "filth" and that "no Christian should participate in such heathen activity." Those were the days of their "kooks."

It should be stated, however, that their tone on other Christian colleges and universities has mellowed tremendously, and Dr. Schaap (Pres. after Hyles' death) personally told a close friend of mine a few months ago that he found schools like Liberty and Oral Roberts to fulfill a very needed purpose in the education of many young Christian adults.

I was as surprised as you probably are.
