Six months after becoming chancellor of Liberty University, Jerry Falwell Jr. has discovered a secret to his father’s success - the students.

“I think that’s how he handled the stress of the business side,” he said of his father, the Rev. Jerry Falwell Sr., who died May 15. He was known for spending his free time with students at sporting events, on campus and around town.

“Now I see why he was more relaxed than I was. He had learned the secret that students were the key.”

Jerry Jr. - as he affectionately is called by Liberty students, faculty and staff - previously worked behind the scenes as the school’s vice-chancellor.

From seeing him at faculty meetings, it appears he is becoming more comfortable with his public persona.

He is quite entertaining. You're always waiting for that "Oh-man, I shouldn't have said that..." moment every time he gets to the microphone, however.

I, for one, am glad to see it...perhaps some on the mountain can find the "lighten up" gene in their spiritual DNA.
