Here's a topic that I knowis near & dear to the hearts of nearly every college student. What are the best options after dark?

Back when I was in school the options were limited. We had Waffle House and a Wendy's Drivethru and not much else.

While food is subject to opinion, here's something I consider myself to be an expert on. Since I work nights, it's extremely important to know what the late-night/early-morning meal options are.

TGI Friday's and Applebee's are the late-night chain options. They're open until 1am and 12 am respectively. (IHOP is late night on the weekends, but everything is open late on the weekends, so I don't think it counts.) Hardee's on Timberlake Road is open until 2, I think. The 24-hour options are McDonald's at Wards Crossing, Sheetz (MTO), Waffle House, Weiner Stand #2, The Texas Inn and of course, you can always get something at Wal-Mart.

If we're choosing from the 24-hour options, I'll take MTO every time. You can get almost anything there.

When ever we'd go out after cerfew with the RA, we'd always go to Sheetz and there would be many many other students who were doing the same. MTO is a popular choice I guess.

Yea, of the two times I stayed on campus last semester, we snuck off once and went to Sheetz. There's always people there. We were there this past weekend and there were a lotta people there. McDonald's only serves the value meals after midnight. Taco Bell is open til 1am. It's amazing how often you crave Taco Bell in the middle of the night. I'm serious.

I lived at Sheetz my senior year. I was so pumped they actually built one in Lynchburg. It definitely beats WaWa hands down. Late night grub is Sheetz all the way - unless you want to sit down at the Tea Room.

The funny thing about Sheetz is that it's actually not that busy at the truly late hours. At 3am, it's usually just me, the guy I work with, the ladies who work there and the occasional trucker. By then the Krispy Kreme case has been freshly stocked for the morning, too.

3am is the best time to go. Nothing beats the hot chocolate and a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
