I've always suspected that our ratio of whiners/morons to normal students was a little higher than at other schools. And by morons I mean "lack of common sense + extremely sheltered life up until now".

That sums it up...

man, that's pretty tough to swallow from a prof. Even if it is true.

I do think its a little higher...just not as high as some like to think....the reason is because you have a lot of kids that are sheltered from the real world for so long they don't know how to react...its like this (most cases worst then this) at a lot of Christian schools I have visited or known friends that have gone to them....

By sheltered it doesn't mean just homeschool types either....

I just hate thinking I am better then anybody else and when people continually look down on people it get under my skin...we all do stupid things....thats my only point

Agreed. I didn't mean my previous statement to in any way imply a dislike of LU students because of that. It may annoy and frustrate me at times, but we all come from different walks in life, and we're all trying to figure it out in college. I can handle a little whining while the kids are here getting their "stuff" figured out. Now after you graduate and enter the real world, I'll take quite a different approach.

while we're on the topic, what idiot student had the nerve to paint over the memorial on the rock? I figured it would happen, but I just can't imagine being that person to get rid of it.

Well, eventually you have to move on. So, I'm not sure I think it was entirely a bad thing.

Now if you want to talk about the students who can't manage to grasp the idea that the spirit rock is for painting rather than the sidewalk, other rocks, random concrete, etc.; well then you could really get me worked up. Class A morons.

I knew it would be painted over. There's no way that many students can restrain themselves when not specifically told to. But to be the one to do it just seem pretty selfcentered to me. Maybe that's not the right word, but it seems pretty something. As for painting everyother rock on campus. I would be extremely pleased to find out that the punishment for getting caught doing that is immediate expulsion. I'm not exagerating either.

Dorm 8 was who did it first...I haven't seen it lately...but one day it was the memorial, the next day it was Dorm 8....the funny thing is I was talking with my wife and joking around about how the people to paint over it will probably be Dorm 8...and it was

Anyways, I think some people on this board get too angry about small little stupid things students do....things that really don't matter....but thats just my opinion...I can't stop people from stating theirs....I will just continue laugh at the fact people get upset about the smallest things....

I don't mean for this to sound upset, so please don't take it that way at all. I'm just wondering what kinds of things you mean? Am I out of bounds for thinking the painting on the sidewalks, rocks, random concrete, etc. is out of line? Or? I mean, we certainly voice our opinions about what students do to annoy us, so I wouldn't mind hearing what us old codgers here at FF do to annoy the students.

Its not so much you...its more people that are students right now that have this attitude that they are better then the "typical" liberty student.....of course there are things we don't want students to do...but we all did dumb things at one time or another during our college experience...if you didn't then you weren't really living up the college experience....

I am just so incredibly laid back that I don't see the point at getting upset at students for putting bubbles in the fountain, or painting a couple different rock, people moving tables in the rot, or whatever else little thing the students do here...I would much rather them do the things they do here then the heavy drinking at other college campuses....I know that is kind of a cop out...but I really just don't see the big deal in much of what is complained about the students here....

again this could be from my incredibly laid back attitude....and I guess I have to realize not everybody looks at life like me...

and don't worry scorcho, i know you aren't upset, my post screamed giving some kind of exclamation...I don't know if that helped explained my stance on things or not....and I am sure you will come right back with a respons...

Just say you hate people like me. It won't bother me.

The rock's been painted over quite a few times. The other day it said "Dusty Rhodes Is My American Dream" and I about ran over the curb laughing.

i don't hate you....i get annoyed when you say certain things, much like you probably get annoyed at things I say....I don't think you hate me, though I could be wrong, haha...

but you aren't the only person that says things like that....no need to make anything personal :D

I didn't say you should say you hated me. I said you should say you hated people like me who can't stand the "typical" Liberty kid.

haha....ok man...but there is a big difference then hating something and simply being annoyed....

and if we want to get down to it, I don't know very many students that don't complain about "typical" liberty students, so in essence the "typical" thing for Liberty students to do is complain about "typical" Liberty student....
