I thought Id start an Olympics thread by saying, the cauldron lighting was absolutely breathtaking. If you did not watch it tonight you have to see the video.

I seriously thought the guy was going to fall when they shifted the wires so he could "run" along the top of the stadium. It looked like he was pretty scared too.

could've done without the knife attack, though- what a shame.

feel sorry for those families.

Todd and Barbara Bachman of Lakeville, Minn. -- parents of 2004 volleyball Olympian Elisabeth "Wiz" Bachman and in-laws of U.S. men's volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon -- were attacked by a Chinese man while visiting the 13th-century Drum Tower.

The U.S. Olympic Committee confirmed Bachman died from knife wounds and that Barbara Bachman suffered life-threatening injuries. She and their Chinese tour guide, who was also injured in the attack, were being treated in a Beijing hospital.

Anybody else having trouble keeping track of what sport is on which channel? It was so much easier when you only had two channels carrying anything. Now they are everywhere.

I agree, Sly. I went to nbcolympics.com and got a headache by trying to figure out what was going to be on and when.

If you have Directv...channels 750-753 are all Olympic coverage in one spot...as well as whatever is on NBC.

Tv Listings, that makes it pretty easy to figure out what is coming on when and on what channel. By doing that, I've had absolutely no trouble figuring out what to watch, when to watch, and what channel to watch. I thought it made it very easy to keep up with it all.

Also, tune in to some handball matches. I watched Russia vs. Korea today and that was one heck of a match and it was women's and I generally don't like womens sports at all. That game was pretty fast and physical, I cant even begin to imagine how fast and physical the mens version is. I just dont get why this sport is still virtually a mystery in america, it's a heck of a lot more entertaining to watch than freaking golf or tennis.

Did anyone just see the 400 Freestyle relay? WOW...I hate swimming but how in the world can you not respect what they just did

I like the way the French basically surrendered there at the end.

I didn't watch it live last night but I just finished watching it online. That was awesome. I actually got chills down the stretch. If any moment of these games tops that, I'll be amazed.
