Even though they're a bit outta the way for the Big South, I for one would hate to lose them.

that would open the door for gardner-webb to become a full member and im sure longwood is still knocking on the door.

I'd say good riddance.
They have no business, geographically, in our league. It has to cost them a fortune in travel costs. I am suprised they would look at D-III, though, as they were a powerhouse in NAIA, and there are pleanty of D-II in their neck of the woods. Bring in Gardner Webb AND Longwood.

I have to disagree. They have been a terrific addition to the league. Other than the blemish of the church burnings, thye have been nothing but a boon to the Big South. They are competitive in every sport and allowed us some exposure beyond the Virginia/Carolinas region.

As for the reason they might go DIII, it has to do with funding the scholies. BSC actually has a very nice academic reputation and they apparently have faculty and administrators who have been against the move to DI from the day it happened.

I hope they stick around and we can add another travelling partner for them somewhere in the Deep South.

Good. It's always been annoying that their school's acronym is identical to their conference's. It's made for some confusing discussion when one person is talking about the Big South Conference while the other is talking about Birmingham-Southern College.

That's a great reason to want them gone :)

Tally I was thinking the exact same thing.

BSC has made some of the best improvements than anyone else in the conference. They're now a legit team in almost every sport.

I see no good reason to bring in Longwood.

I see no point in Longwood either. Bring in Gee Dub but not Longwood.

I e-mailed joecribbscarwash today asking him what was going on over there. He tells me the Board of Trustees meet this Friday and it looks very serious.

I for one would not want to see Birmingham gone. They have been a positive addition in many sports. Other than the geographic problem, I like them representing the Big South. We shall see what happens.

You 2, have obviously never gotten into that predicament.

I was told that they were voting today... The President tired to pass this thing a few weeks ago when the students had just left but they have like 60 or 70 some board members and this has to be a majority vote, so it will be interesting to see what happens

The Trustees vote to move down to Div. III....and interestingly, they'll be starting a football program too.

Time to start raiding their rosters. Wonder if any of them would like to transfer to a fine Christian university in Virginia??

So long. We hardly knew ya. I'll miss the Euro ballers and all of their many consonants in a row.

Yes, like Jakob Sigurdarson. I have him on my facebook. He was a really good ball player for them for sure. I will miss BSC but it is easy for me to say that because I never had to actually travel there! They were geographically unappealing to say the least. I am surprised somewhat by this move though. Going from Div 1 to Div III. I wonder how many times that has happened. Statboy?

It's pretty ironic that on the same day it is announced that GWU is in, that it is announced BSC is out. If I recall, when the presidents voted "No" on GWU they turned right around and voted in BSC. Kyle has to be happy.

AG - You meant REGENT has a team?
LUCONN - Is our Women's program going somewhere? :)

Actually, I was thinking the raiding would be more up LCA's alley.

There is a thread that died quickly on the other section. Besides, these athletes may have too high a GPA for LCA

Scar-it has happened four times, well 5 now after BSC decided to do it.
