Saw where Bob posted this on Coastal's board. It's pretty interesting.

Bryan, Piedmont's coach, and Steve Humphries, the director of football operations, had developed an offense in which all 11 players on the field potentially are eligible to catch the ball. Though they weren't certain it was legal when they first concocted the idea, they were willing to implement it for the 2007 season.

It looks to me like a standard 6-man offense with more players on the field. I've seen schools run similar gimmick offenses down here when they know they are completely overmatched. Usually they involve more pre-snap movement.

Something tells me Madmat is not going to be a fan of this.

I thought the lineman weren't eligible receivers...

This reminds me of a part in Varsity Blues where the team decides to have 5 wide outs -- and then the opposing coach starts counting and goes, "whaaaat????"

I don't think it would take long for something more than a High School DC to figure out how to kill the QB. It's the same reason why the spread offense works so well in college but not in the NFL.

Ding ding ding! In addition, high school defenses are notorious for their lack of complexity. High school QBs usually only see around two to three defensive looks per game. College defenses throw a whole lot more at them.

I think if you were to run a play or two a game out of this it would work, but that's all. Just like when the Falcons ran one or two option plays with Vick. It can work occasionally, but not all the time.
