Since I know you guys like to keep an eye on conference membership issues across the NCAA, I thought I'd mention a couple of moves that have recently happened, in case you haven't seen them yet:

USC-Upstate (Spartanburg, SC) is moving up to Div. I and will be in the Atlantic Sun:

Florida Gulf Coast University (Ft. Myers, FL) is also moving up to Div. I and will be in the Atlantic Sun:

Valparaiso is moving from the Mid-Continent Conference to the Horizon League:

Neither USC-Upstate or FGCU have football...Valpo's football team will remain in the Pioneer League.

A-Sun is really turning into a powerhouse. USC upstate is a funny name for a school

I live in South Carolina and never knew that USC-Upstate was even thinking about moving up to Div. I.

And I thought USC-Spartanburg was a much better name...

I think they are. They both left Coastal and I've been told if LU had a women's team they'd consider coming up here. They want to go somewhere that they can play Coastal and beat them.

Valpo leaving the Mid-Con opens the door for North Dakota State and South Dakota State to both join. That would keep the Great West intact for football. I know they both still want Big Sky membership, but enough presidents in that league are hesitant about the increased travel for all sports that they won't let them in.

I'd love to see Denver move from the Sun Belt to the Big Sky, especially with Northern Colorado already joining the league. It wouldn't affect Denver's big money sport anyway (hockey) and it makes far too much geographic sense.
